Born and raised in the Black Country, Joanne was originally discovered by Eurythmics' Dave Stewart as a 16 year old guitar prodigy. Through hard work and near-constant touring, she is now one of the hottest young names on the British Blues circuit. She is admired and respected by many leading blues guitarists including Joe Bonamassa.
Joanne was voted "Best British Female Vocalist" at the British Blues Awards in 2010 and 2011. Her current album, Almost Always Never, was helmed by the legendary record producer Mike McCarthy (Spoon, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Patty Griffin) in Austin, Texas. Joanne was invited as special guest to Annie Lennox performing at the Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert in June 2012. New Album The Dirty Truth, release date 22.09.14

Even though it hurts my male pride Ouch!, after seeing and hearing Joanne and hearing people compare her to SRV I have to say in all honesty as much as I Love Stevie It has become more like SRV sounds like Joanne, not the other way around. I grew up hearing All The Blues Greats, and Rock/Blues Players from the 50', 60's to present and she is Better! Sorry! that goes for J. Beck, Clapton, J. Page, Buddy Guy, Freddy King, Gary Moore, and you too Jimi H. or fill in the blank with whoever you want to name. The only guy I still put above her at this time is Rory Gallagher, the only reason being His Amazing Bottleneck, and Acoustic Playing. Straight Electric Guitar Rockin' Blues She Wins! And Please! guys don't give me that crap about well Uh, Uh it's that Long Blonde hair that makes he seem better than she is. LOL and I'll tell you yeah she's actually playing The Guitar with her Hair like Jimi played with his teeth, and T. Bone before him. And she does it so Smooth it looks like she's playing with her fingers. Get Real! She's just flat out The Best I've ever heard, or seen, even from her mid 20's until now that she's 31. Truth is Truth!

I agree that her style is extremely similar to Stevie Ray, but ... in reference to your comment... it would have to be that she was influenced by Stevie, and "not" that Stevie Ray was influenced by Joanne because Stevie Ray Vaughan was older and was playing guitar way before Joanne Shaw Taylor was born! Everyone that starts playing guitar and practised to get better has other established Guitarist that influences them to play a certain style. Take a look and listen to Kenny Wayne Shepperd or Eric Johnson! Both of them can play in the style of Stevie or Wes Montgomery or Robert Cray or even Clapton. It's learning and practicing those styles and adding your own special licks and riffs that make up your style out of a calibration of many different styles with your own Special twist that make your style... "Your Style"! I came across Joanne Shaw Taylor a couple months ago and she's awesome and even though it may seem like Stevie Ray was influenced by her ... she was influenced by him and others that helped her achieve her own awesome style and sound!
