years of developing my drawing skills and it's the best way to understand clearly and simply how the structure is. I highly recommend every beginner artist to start looking at this kind of arts. well done, all respect.

My teacher tried just talking me through this and he did it backwards where he put a lot of clay on then removed the negative space but this method looks easier and makes a lot more sense! Thank you!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! You just saved me hours and hours of frustration!!! I was over working my eyes and going crazy. I didn’t realize you use the coil upper and lower eyes liners this way. I would obliterate them and struggle to make them even and smooth. The trick is to pack clay into eye sockets around the eyeballs and the coil liners thus keeping beautifully constructed liners.

Actually it depends on what you want to do. Sculptris´ sculpting technology is more advanced that Zbrush (you do not have to worry about topology, triangles, loops or anything linke that). However Zbrush offers more stuff, like normal map generation, retopology tools, multirresolution sculpt, 2.5D paint mode... If you´re just going to sculpt, i´d say use sculptris.

for those who are wondering. water based clay is not expensive (6euro for 10kg). It does dry fairly hard, but still needs firing (to harden up)

hi. im watching ur videos right now because i will start on an artwork soon. but instead of using clay i will be experimenting on paper pulp mixed with flour and glue.... (like a paper clay)... hopefully it will be successful... also it will be my first time doing it... so wish me luck 😊

Regarding eye sockets, I realize everyone is different, still, I'd imagine having the eyes set too deep or protruding too far outward might end up looking odd. So I wondered, is there a specific depth for the eye sockets?

I wish I could do it this easy. The clay that we use in art class has to be scored and slipped whenever you want to add a piece to the sculpture which gets very frustrating
@AJoyfulClayTutor2 жыл бұрын
Hello, With pottery clay if you press and blend and smooth you do not have to slip and score.

It’s still possible, time and careful blending is all that’s needed.

@JoannnaMozdzen Hi, I am an aspiring sculptor. I am a 14 year old girl... I regularly use Crayola clay, that constantly rips and tears and shreds abnormaly when i try to add detail.. I was wondering what your advice would be. And maybe what kind of clay you use and where I can get some scultping supplies! I live in California.

I would love to try this technique, but I'm wary of applying bits of clay without ensuring there is no trapped air underneath. Have you ever had problems with air pockets doing eyes like this?
