thank you so much, genuinely helped a lot!! just to clarify, what did you exactly mean by the precise activation of the enzymes within the lysosome? do the enzymes basically become effective to work as soon as theyre contained within the acidic environment inside the lysosome?
@JoaosLab2 ай бұрын
You are very welcome! 😊 When I mentioned the "precise activation of enzymes within the lysosome," I was referring to how lysosomal enzymes, called acid hydrolases, become fully active only within the acidic environment of the lysosome. These enzymes are designed to function optimally at a low pH, which is much more acidic than the rest of the cell. In the cytoplasm, where the pH is neutral, these enzymes are mostly inactive, preventing them from accidentally digesting important cellular components. Once they are inside the lysosome, the acidic environment activates them, allowing them to break down waste materials, cellular debris, and other substances safely and efficiently. This pH dependency acts as a safety mechanism, ensuring that these powerful enzymes only function where they are needed, preventing potential damage to the rest of the cell. I hope this helps clarify the point I made in the video.

bruh this channel is too underrated. But i care about the information much more than the views on the channel. I had to specifically type Joao's lab in the search tab to find this video.

Hey Joao, is it possible to have Micelles within Micelles? In other words, are there Micelles in Micelles in my cells?
@JoaosLab2 ай бұрын
Hi Joel, While it is possible to create micelle-like structures within micelles in a laboratory setting, this is not a typical arrangement found in biological cells. Cells use more complex and stable lipid structures for compartmentalization and function. I hope this answers your question! 😊
