For sure about the music 🎶. And was thinking that many of these tracks would probably play well to a Western audience but the sound is hard to define, and don’t know if enough transition for it to be truly understood. Some slower benga ‘could’ sound like a high-pitched “highlife” which is popular in US, but then you have that defining one-of-a-kind Break that separates it all. Some soukous and Rumba may have that break, but the pitch and fingerpicking that often mimics the vocals, and I’m sure plenty of other complex techniques make it very different. Anyway, such great music!
