I have all these fans for those of you wondering the Milwaukee is the strongest by far but it’s also the loudest while it says it doesn’t have the most cfm I can feel the air movement it creates much farther than any of the others, also the battery does matter,a high output or ridgid octane battery makes the fan stronger

Good review. I have had the Dewalt fan for almost a year and have used it lightly for car camping, tent, and in the apartment as a personal fan. Nice, solid fan. Thanks for letting us know that it can use a larger battery. Agree that it must come with the electrical cord option. My 2aH battery would last maybe 3 to 4 hours so its nice to have a back up option. Thanks for the video!

A 9Ah battery fits just fine on the Milwaukee. That's what I use all the time. It doesn't stick out of the bottom in anyway. That fan has been my best camping fan for 2 years now. A total life saver from the Texas heat. As for the AC adapter, I keep the fan in a small plastic stackable bin with the AC adapter and a couple of extra batteries and a charger. Never had a problem with it. But I also never plug it in.

@@BrianHallmond I've got 3 DeWalt fans and tons of DeWalt tools, and a bunch of batteries. The more batteries you have the better. Swap out the batteries, I've got the black slower chargers, which is better for the life of the battery, Fast charging lowers the life expectancy of lithium ion batteries. It lasts all night with at least 4 AH batteries.

I’ve got both.. had Milwaukee first(it is loud) bought Dewalt because of the reviews and guess what! The Milwaukee (at least feels like) it moves more air! Not sure if they changed something in the way they’re manufactured.. or if the Milwaukee is just more concentrated air flow so it “feels” stronger? Maybe mine is defective.. but it is SUPER quiet, decent airflow but at 500 CFM (and $130) against Milwaukee 284 CFM($90) it should be NOTICEABLY stronger!!! And they’re pretty much equal :/ I might ask DeWalt to exchange it. Hopefully they let me, I’ve got the packaging and it’s been used one day.

It really comes down to what ecosystem you bought into. I bought into Milwaukee for a reason therefore I have the Milwaukee fan and I am very impressed. I actually use the fan at my house for when the power goes out. I get 17 hours minimum run time out of one battery. Rigid is very hairy homeowner and so is Ryobi. The Milwaukee fan has the AC adapter so you can run it on AC power just like all the rest. I prefer the detachable AC adapter that Milwaukee includes because I don’t want a captive cord on my portable battery fan. The whole point is to be able to run it on battery therefore I want the option to use the cord when I want and therefore I don’t want it to be on the fan all the time because that’s a huge pain in the ass

I’m a spec and statistics guy. When you look at the specs, I had to get the dewalt in addition to the Milwaukee I already had. Truth of the matter though, is the Milwaukee always seems to cool me off better. Just telling it like it is. I had become a dewalt guy too. Everything I bought dewalt was either better, or cheaper than Milwaukee. They didn’t win this one.

Fantastic video thank you. Milwaukee clearly needs to revisit their fan iteration. I automatically counted them out because of the power brick for ac power. Perhaps others customers won't though especially those already invested in the m18 platform. I dont like the 3 speed on the milwaukee either when everyone else has potentiometers. Ridgid would seem the winner in terms of value if you want a really good fan. Its very comparable to the dewalt yet much cheaper and lifetime warranty. The ryobi of course is a great budget fan and their batteries are cheaper. Speaking of the ryobi, perhaps while you wait for the makita you might be interested in checking out the artic cove misting fan. It works off of a bucket or garden hose and accepts ryobi batteries.

I think I'm going for the Ridgid fan. Price and performance and features are good, plus that lifetime warranty. Have you tried the Ridgid Gen5x 18v jobsite blower? That Milwaukee is now 3 years older than it’s old ass back when this video was made and they never updated the base to fit 9.0 or the 12.0 HO battery. I own 2 for many years now. Lots of use. They are very durable. If only the batteries would last as long as the fan. I have two partial 9.0 and one 12.0 battery. I’ll be adding a Hercules fan eventually with their low cost batteries and much better warranty. Be interesting if EGO made a fan using their huge batteries as the base. Run time would be extreme. I also use the fan at night in a room. I don’t mind loud though. The white noise helps me sleep. Great review thanks.

My oldest DeWalt batteries are 9 years old. Still work. I have only bought dedicated DeWalt batteries once around Christmas on sale. All in all I have 4 4ah 6 6ah flex volt and a handful of those 1.5ah and 2ah. They have all been accompanied by a tool. Except for the 3 I mentioned prior. And one 4ah grew legs and walked. But not too heat broken, was an original when I got into DeWalt line 9 years ago now. So DeWalt May have expensive batteries but they last. I have a remodeling company, they get used.

it is a bummer that the dewalt is now $159 if you want this model with the cord option....total BS to charge so much more just to be able to plug it in , that should be 100% standard on all of them. I just bought the DCE 512b which is battery only and it cost $119 that was as far as I was willing to go for a fan unfortunately and I think I will almost always want to use it with batteries anyway because trying to deal with extension cords for a fan moving from room to room all the time like I do in my line of work is a pain in the butt. I have to have moving air when er I am working so a battery powered fan is the way to go for med, just wish it had a lug in option without spending another 50 bucks . I bought the battery only one and an extra 6 Amp Hour battery for only a little more than what the tool only with the plug in option .

I have 2 ryobis fan the hybrid and the non hybrid, i like them because of their size. And I did not payed retail price for them either. The hybrid almost new i got itlike 15 bucks. Right now they are at $49.99 at the depot. But I am eyeballing the dewalt one (99% of my tools are dewalt)

Very informative video. I'm not sure why you liked Dewalt over Ridgid when the Dewalt is substantially more expensive ($69 for Ridgid vs $119 for Dewalt at Home Depot) for basically the same features and throughput. I can get the Ridgid for $89 at Home Depot and it includes a battery and charger. The Dewalt is $200 for the same configuration.

Just wanna double check the Dewalt is just as strong as the others, but it's quiet? The battery is marked for 9 HOURS but you used it for 3 NIGHTS straight without charging? Do you mean you slept with it on all night without charging? I'd like a good fan that has good power and long charge.

I am a fan of Milwaukee but I agree with you on the plug and it's loud with lowest airflow. Would the Rigid or Dewalt fans work as in have enough space to use one of those battery adapters to allow you to use an M18 battery? I don't want more than 1 tool battery system.

Is any of these rechargeable? I live in Aruba and want to buy a battery operated fan that can last at least 6hours, since power goes out quite often here. The thing is I will have to order a fan from US and I won't be able to find batteries here if it dies out AND it's too expensive to constantly order things to get shipped. So if I can find one that is rechargeable will be great! Eventually I plan to get a generator but it's out of my budget for now.
