As a farmer who knows quite a few independent pharmaceutical salesmen I think you guys are one of the best things to happen to us since the mother lucking industrialization transformed us western farmers into polluting monstrous factory workers. Thanks to you we can grow a slew of highly sought after plants and other organisms tax free, giving us some of that influence and cash we've lost with industrialized farming and brewing. But in all seriousness agriculture reform pls. I don't wanna kill all the insects in my country and make the ground acidic while climate change is in full effect just to live of tax money since some poor soul in eastern Europe or Africa gets like a dollar per hour and can outcompete me all day because transport doesn't cost anything.

@Pro Semite ofc, it is all we talk about for 20 years now. The problem is that the "free market" ruled by international monopolies in food and seed distribution and the huge pesticide companies have heavily influenced the states policies regarding the protection of the domestic farming business and thus the quotas and general direction the state wants the agriculture sector to go into. If organic farming is a market almost exclusively inhabited by very wealthy people and the actual standards for organic are this incredibly lax, not to speak of the airborne pesticides, the half life of many pesticides, the continuous acidification of the soil due to short term nitrate fertilizers to reach absurd standards of quality consistently for the customer it all becomes a lil bit farcical. What we collectively need to accept about agriculture is that it just can't coexist with this kind of late stage energy intensive megacity capitalism. You can't have a highly profitable large scale construction and heavy industry sector, a gigantic electronic service industry with huge energy demands and support your nation with domestically made organic food. If we as humans want to reach nutrion safety in this rapidely changing climate (I mean look at this drought rn wth) we gotta cool down on the non essential goods production and consumption.

Why farmers are awesome -They grow our food -They work ALOT (alot of times 10+ hours) -Many of them are very nice - They've maintained and supported the lives of billions in multiple generations -They have to take care of a massive plot of land -I like grass and plants -Have you ever seen a picture with a farmer frowning? They always smile -They are so strong that a gym isn't enough to even make them break a sweat, so they need a whole acre or more -They don't avoid the grind, they live it😤

My entire family (except for my and my cousins, we're the generation that isn't working the fields, at least not yet) have so many health issues bc of the hard work they've had to do. My mom has all the problems with her spine and legs because she'd be out in the sun from the age of five, trying to help her family so they could have a little money to get through the week and that was back when things were better for farmers. Now we have some employees that are basically part of our family and we "overpay them which is why we're so poor", as the rich assholes getting money off our backs without giving anything back have said to us. Those people are helping my family maintain its livelihood by literally breaking their backs under intense weather conditions and sunlight, of course we're going to pay them as much as we possibly can and treat them as part of our family. Construction workers, sanitation workers and farmers (since my family has members working on all of those three fields, with one side being mostly farmers and the other working the other two jobs) are extremely important and it's a disgrace that not many people recognize their hard work. So honestly this entire comment section actually has me feeling a little emotional. It's rewarding and a relief to know that at least the people who consume our products recognize the hard work put in.

I am afraid for the future and am constantly thinking that if I just keep working, I won't end up homeless after college or something. I have dreams that I can help at a farm, but I also like welding and think of being a mechanic. I don't really know where I'm going. I just feel like I was made for those kind of things mentally. I admire you guys that work so hard and it's so frustrating that it isn't always enough. Cleaners, garbage men, plumbers, your work is so important, you keep our world clean, and circulating! I work in fast food and the other day I got so overwhelmed I stopped thinking for a minute and SO many times bitchy women who don't know what pain feels like have made feel so stupid. They practically called me it, too. In my other job I entertain kids and families, it's very fun, but some kids are just awful. The retail one is so accurate. I worked a retail job for 6 years and quit. Before I quit, work was so aggravating that I was wanting to walk out every other day. Once I quit I felt so much better mentally. A year later I got a temp job in retail setting a new store up for a week. It brought my suicidal thoughts back for the first time in almost a year before the week was even up. The worst part is that with both places it wasn't even the customers. Just managers and coworkers being assholes (and lazy) making everything harder than it needed to be. I actually miss some of my regular customers from before.

@@andieskywalker Ok let’s be honest here, as someone who also wants to work in said industry your location is a big factor when it comes to finding a job/place in a studio & not working as a freelancer. If you live in the west/ (Us & Europe ) then you’re off pretty well, I for one live in Germany and over here there’s much support for this industry from the state, to the point where they even offer courses for literally anything that has to do with visual arts. That is sadly not the case for many countries as the economy there doesn’t allow this as easily. Secondly, it is really important to have connections in your job industry. If you have someone who can get you a place in a remarkable studio then you already have a great reference in your file/portfolio. Sadly, the digital art industry is one where you‘ll be very likely to always have to move to other places/work at other studios, at least if you want to have even a little creative freedom. As we all know if times become less peaceful these kinds of jobs aren’t required as much anymore which is why I would study/work another job as well, to have a certain stability & security if all hope is lost concerning your dream job.

Working multiple jobs is not sigma. It is a part of the toxic grind culture that the system forces on people. I believe that working one job should provide for an entire family comfortably.

some people work multiple jobs precisely because they can't provide for an entire family with just one. at least where I'm from minimum wage isn't enough to feed more than one person
