I've studied some other things from white that Jobava plays. What I'm learning is that center pawns are a two sided coin. They are largely considered valuable for long term positional play but when you just get them out of the way of your pieces and then use those pieces well you can do great things as well.

Invented by Dmitry Lavrik, not Jobava. Jobava just mostlyplayed it against opponents that were 200 points lower. When he played it against stronger players, he lost.

@@danielw2964 Here's a sample line I'd typically get: 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Nf6 3. Nf3 Qxd5 4. d4 Nc6 5. Be2 Bg4 6. O-O O-O-O 7. c4 Qh5 8. Be3 d6 9. h3 Bxh3 gxh3 Qxh3 black has a lot of attacking moves w/ Bd6, Ng4, h5 and rook lifts. It's rarely sound, but often very difficult to refute in blitz. You can sometimes also get the other knight involved via Ne5 if there's a pin on the d-file.

Why are these top players avoiding (in all master games) simply taking on d5 followed by Qe2? I'm 1600 and I've yet to face another move... It seems the safest move so many players are drawn to it I guess in the attempt to just solidify the pawn and play an endgame? I feel like this move has to be covered with some counter idea, otherwise masters wouldn't touch this, no?
@helloagain4546
@helloagain4546 Жыл бұрын
I found a nice rook sac in this line maybe that's it...? After Qe2 Bd6 Nc3 Qd6 if White goes rook hunting with Qb5+ and Qxb7 he might drop a knight and if the rook is taken potentially trap his queen... So the rook on a8 is pretty much not en prie, if he does take on a8 to save the queen white must sac another knight. So with pretty logical and fairly resistant play you might be looking at winning 2 knights for a Rook, or better ! :O
