While fishing around the North side of Maug, I caught the biggest Jobfish I've ever seen!!! Back in 1997 was the last time I ate a green Jobfish. I was on a boat near Qamea, Fiji and I remembered it as one of my favorites! As soon as I caught this fish, I knew exactly how I wanted to cook it!!!
The lure I was using in this video was a Nomad "MadMac" they are not a sponsor, but I believe in giving credit where credit is due! we SMASHED this fish on these lures!!! bit.ly/392pplR
My fillet Knife is a Silver Stag, Bone & Fillet bit.ly/2IQ6kcZ
Our Trolling set ups were Talica 50 II with Shimano Talus Rods.
Our Raingear was by Frogg Togg. go to www.froggtoggs.com and use Promo Code DMFD25 for 25% off entire order!

Hey Robert, I love watching your content! Keep up the great work. Great to see everyone working together as a family and enjoying the fruits of the groups’ collective labour. As a Fijian, I couldn’t be more proud to know that Fiji has a special place in your heart. Maybe a trip back there with the family in the near future? Looking forward to seeing more! The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. VINAKA 🙏🏾

Awesome video deermeatfordinner, Filipino here but Born and raised in Saipan, Cnmi for 19 years and currently living in Northern California. Now that I'm 29, and seeing this videos brings back so much wonderful memories of my old HOME. So glad you put out videos to represent the CNMI, a place where most of the world has never heard of. I'm definitely going to take a long vacation in the future to visit, seeing videos like this makes me really home sick. Thanks again deermeatfordinner for the videos this made my day

"It's real name is Jobfish..." - I'm sure what they've been calling it in their language for centuries is as real to them as Jobfish is to you in English. Whatever name you choose to call it, though, the recipe looks great! I'll have to try it. Thanks for sharing!

They refer to this fish in Fiji as an Otu Otu, but it’s actual name is really a “jobfish”. A “Green Jobfish”. Google it and you will see.. thanks for watching!

@@deermeatfordinner Rob, I think you missed the point, so here's another example: That cutting blade you use to fillet a fish is "refer[ed]" as messer in German, couteau in French, cuchillo in Spanish, kutsilyo in Tagalog, kisu in Swahili, knife in English. What's the "real" name? They are all the "real" name.

When he was filleting the fish I saw the hog on a spit roast but for a split second I thought it was one of the deer they brought. Also the generator makes sense. I wondered how they kept things cool and had so many perishables and even large amounts of ice still. Looks like they even built some semi permanent structures.

Jobfish is not its “real name”, it doesn’t sound good for you to say that, otu otu is also its “real name” for the Fiji people, and Highway fish its “real name” for this people, the fact that in America we call it jobfish doesn’t make it it’s real name, it’s real name, if any is Aprion Virescens. Don’t get me wrong, i love these content, but that just sounds like an American eccentricism.

One of the greatest blessings in life is the opportunity to break bread with you friends and family and give God all the glory for it. Every time I watch one of your videos I feel like I am right there with you! Keep up the good work.

I hope to spend a few days with you some day. You have always been the most kind man. I've been watching you for many years. Since you were on the outdoor channel I believe. Im in Oregon now I used to live in the South. If you have never been here the outdoors are spectacular and I could definitely put your on a few Chinook Salmon and Dungeness crab! God bless 🙏🇺🇸

It's so nice to see you, your family and your friends from the islands eating delicious food and having a great time on the 4th! It's refreshing to see this with all the turmoil going on in the states right now. We should all take a lesson from this and just simply try to get along better I think. Good food + Good company and friends= Love. Enjoying all the long distance videos friend!
