In my humble opinion, I like Burt Reynolds’s voice of Charlie Barkin better because he did an accurate job doing the voice of that slender, muscular german shepherd in the 1st film while Charlie Sheen did an inaccurate job on doing the voice of him in this film.

It something that also appeared in the Layton franchise. Clark Triton could understand them in his childhood, but the ability goes away as he aged. Luke was introduced with that ability, he had a mouse friend, Toppy who could tell him where the scepter would appears.
