What I loved about this movie is when Allan was little he jumped overboard because he saw something in the water and it was a mermaid and it was Madison and he felt safe with her and they were holding hands in the water and he was so happy to be with her. It was pure magic and love and then 20 yrs later he meets Madison again and doesn't realize that it was her that he feel in love with her when he realized that he was safe in the water when Madison reminded him of his childhood and he was safe with her. That's why he wanted to be with her and he loved her and he said That was you! He jumps in the water to save her from the scientists that held Madison captive and he went with her b/c he knew that was his true happiness. She loved Allan and he loved her. That's why the song is Love Came For Me. This was a sweet movie funny at times and I wish I could find someone to love me. Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah were a treasure in this movie so was John Candy Splash was a great movie back in the 80s everyone was happier back then Tom Hanks and John Candy so young.

I wish I had the infinity gauntlet, travel back to 1980 and give this film a billion dollars to finance! That way it would MAY have been possible to see it at its prime! And then we would have a more satisfying ending with what happened to Allen's brother and the mermaid stalker.

yes, early Tom Hanks before his career took a dramatic turn, Beautiful Daryl Hannah. Classic 1980s romcom. Also stars John Candy. wasn't going to win any Oscars, but a good relaxing moving.
