It's closer to the comics while somehow missing the point of the comics entirely. The whole point of Hellboy's character was that he chose not to become the harbinger of Armageddon because he was loved and cared for by Dr Broom, his father. In this he's hated, abused and manipulated by nearly everyone around him.

Ron is better but thus guy did a great job too. I'd like to see them both as brothers in a story... Those guys would be funny together kicking but and competing against one another. Maybe even throw in some cool stuff like they merge to make one big Hellboy to win the last battle.
