Canada and Australia are both great destinations to study abroad and rank among the top countries for quality higher education and student experience. So depends on your goal and what you want actually. Australia has jobs with higher pay rate, has better weather than Canada etc. On the other hand, Canada is a much cheaper country to live in. There are other factors as well but you should first list down what you want and then decide which country to go to.

Australian border will likely open mid next year (if everything stays alright). For PR process you will need to apply. So depending on when you apply, what PR stream (189, 190, 491 visa etc) you apply for, your age, your degree, where you studied etc will determine how long it will take you to get PR.
