Congrats! Today (6/28/23), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted a Special Airworthiness Certificate to Joby Aviation, which allows flight testing of its first production prototype. Well done. The craft is beautiful btw!

they could be as far as joby in research today if they wanted to. they didn't invent anything of make anything more efficient. they can't even take the weight of passengers up for 5 minutes. it would be a bad investment for Tesla. they should make big tesla quads in a limited number and sell it to rich fanboys but don't let them ride it.

I see a lot of PR and backslapping in the videos, but no mention of actual capabilities, no stats. Heavily over-produced videos with overbearing soundtracks when what you should be showcasing is the actual sound the aircraft makes. It IS supposed to be quieter than a regular aircraft yesno? Then prove it. Talk about things that matter. Range, safety systems, backup systems, etc. Don't feed us baby-formula and call it steak.

I'm still trying to find out if a JOBY aircraft can land like a regular airplane with props facing forward and coming in at around 80 miles an hour, just in case there's a need to for whatever technical or safety reason, but JOBY hasn't gotten back to me on this question after numerous inquiries.

The biggest misconception/lie about these 4 seater electric aircraft is that - they're gonna alleviate road traffic. 1. It will take a highly trained proficient pilot to fly one of those - that's NOT going anywhere 2. It has SIGNIFICANTLY smaller safety margin than conventional wing twin engine aircraft . Gliding capabilities are almost non-existent. 3. SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive to maintain than regular twin engine aircraft 4. Less efficient (lb/1000mi) than conventional aircraft. 1. Nope. Will require a pilot initially, mostly for regulatory and safety redundancy reasons. Autonomous coming soon. 2. Again nope. Redundancies engineered in and advanced avionics make these aircraft far safer than most aircraft flying today. 3. Electric motors are far cheaper to maintain and more reliable than the fuel burnin engines of today. 4. Nope once again. You can’t beat the efficiency of the electric power plant and low cruise altitude over the relatively short distances that these will be flying. 0/4 my friend.

You're all young like me, but we clearly have very different views. This is essentially the prototype they have had ready and have been conducting remote test flights with for years while stating theyll launch the full service within 2 years, just like they do now. But ok fine, THIS is the real final production prototype and theyre launching the service in 2 years, then we can expect to see the first manned flight really soon then?

People have alot of concern regarsing how well the evtol actually will be able to perform with the added weight of a person so it sure would br nice and about time to start doing test flights with real people if theyre planning on launching the service in just 2 years.

@@abvmoose87 You should never assume my friend. Been following Joby since they went public. But unlike most investors. I try not to allow my emotions to dictate my actions. I didn't invest when joby went public at $10.50. I refuse to invest in overvalue companies. Joby stayed on my watchlist and when it dropped like everything else i jumped in. When joby dropped to roughly being valued at $1 billion i jumped in heavy handed. I say all of that to say. I've been watching Joby's progress and will continue to. You just need patience. There will be pumps along the way. But hold for 10 years to see how things play out!!
