WildWaterTV does a great job recording. I am a big fan of Jed Mugford. I have to say, he has to be my biggest inspiration playing the violin. Jed is in my opinion, a master at playing airs and slow pieces full of heart and emotion. (Which I love listening to and playing. -- well trying to play, since I am new to violin. ) And Mikk Skinner, very beautiful guitar playing. The instruments melded perfectly and you two played it amazingly. Bravo!

Where can i find more music like this, slow fiddle ballads. I was in a hotel bar in Portree last year and there was a man and a woman on the fiddle. She played such lovely slow ballads i could have cried and married her too.

my favorite rendition by far. Others play it too fast and without much feeling, it seems to me.

Louie Neira Common fault that I am afraid. A lot of these tunes are the better for a bit of moderation

'slow fiddle ballads' if you search the music term 'Slow Air Fiddle' you'll find what you're looking for :). The correct term for this is 'Slow Air' or sometimes spelt 'Slow Ayre'

Anyone know where to find the fiddle sheet music? My son has a talent contest in a few months and would love to play this with him....such a beautiful piece and a perfect rendition. Very well played, and full of emotion.

Wow, beautifull rendition! "Jock o' Hazeldean" aka "John of Hazelgreen" is a fiddle variant of the old Scottish ballad anthologized by Francis James Child as ballad 293. Wikipedia has a good summary of its origins. You can find sheet music and a backing track for it here: musescore.com/user/643986/scores/5403178
