Another lovely flight, thanks for taking us along. I don't know if I'm ready to be reckless yet, but I have stopped listening to politicians of all stripes. I guess that's a step in the right direction 👍🇦🇺

The SU pump on my mg has gone out numerous times. The last straw was on the way home from work when it failed and I had to jack up the car take the wheel off and replace it on the side of the road. The mg pump is on the bottom of the car just inboard of the right wheel well. I put an aircraft electric pump in the trunk and carry a spare. If it fails in the future I just have to open the trunk. PS that artificial horizon was making me sea sick. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Nick, I enjoyed the flight. I used to have an old Mini that I had to bang the floor behind me with a hammer as the fuel pump was sticking. See you soon perhaps.

@FlyingForFunTrecanair Are you a PFA tester? I've met many a brilliant personality in that arena! One told me off for letting the wingtip of a Chevvron travel faster than the plane in a steep turn, I didn't let on that my tutor, Derek Piggot, had been even more aggressive, so advanced was the little crafts

Ahhh. The 1050 was the plane of my dreams as a kid... Had to laugh at the AH really getting into the swing of things and having fun - it has to be one of those cheap Ch*nees# Falcon instruments. Wouldn't want to rely on that one in a cloud! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. :)

My pleasure 🙂 quite a nice flying machine although I wouldn’t want one. Not because it’s bad, rather the other way around. Too civilised, fast and didn’t gob oil and grease at me! It was sold shortly after this was filmed; I hope the new owners are enjoying it.

Hard to believe it's a 60 year old aeroplane. Very efficient and nice to fly.

I love the old Vauxhall. She's certainly entitled to her quirks! (I have experience with SU electric pumps. LOL) (Aftermarket, I'm assuming) My old Hillman had an annoying habit of refusing to start on occasion with the electric starter, until I laid under the frame and poked and pried inelegantly on the starter bendix with a bayonet from a Lee Enfield No. 4Mk. I. I did, of course, have the "Armstrong" starter as a backup, and in fact relied totally on that for several months while the electric monstrosity was rebuilt by a brilliant auto shop in Timmins. Embarrassed the heck out of my wife, when I used the manual start on our outings. ROFL! Enjoyed your Jodel test flight, although the wonky A/H made my stomach a bit queasy. BEST to you, Nick!!

Yes, the car originally had an autovac for lifting petrol. It's lurking under the bench, it leaks even more than the Titanic. I think I'm going to fit a handpump in the system, that will mean all electrics are entirely redundant in an emergency.

I don’t know why the Mini had the pump hidden underneath (dirty and difficult to hit) but the Morris Minor had the same pump under the bonnet?

Excellent 👍 thought at first the artificial horizon was having the day off, but at about minute 9:00 on the video it seems to man up and join the party….. no bother, don’t suppose the owner will be going airways anytime soon. 😅

Quite a nice aeroplane but not really my thing; no fault of the aircraft, only my perverted taste for eccentric machinery. It's recently been sold and the new owners are using it enthusiastically.

Hi Nick, I own and regularly fly my D9 so I was initially quietly exulting in anticipation of seeing a 'big brother' under your control. Unfortunately sound issues detracted from the experience. The [relatively speaking] flash instrument layout seemed overkill compared to your little C3's [and my own machines] minimalistic presentation which so delightfully exemplifies the 'low'n slow' concept. I suspect most of your subscribers would concur. Not complaining. I love viewing all and everyone of your offerings.

My son filmed the flight and wanted me to use the footage. I wouldn't particularly choose to fly such a machine but it needed the check flight for permit renewal. The owners don't get on with the aircraft and it's now for sale. Odd, because it's very easy to fly.

"Don't bother, be reckless!"-- Makes for a great bumpersticker or t-shirt! What's the occasion of the flight test? Are you thinking of purchasing it? BTW, for those struggling to understand the in-cockpit conversation, the Closed Caption function does OK at catching most of it.

Definitely on a T-shirt! No, I was just asked to carry out a permit check flight. It's a nice little aircraft but I wouldn't want to own it.

Lovely green countryside. Looks like your Artificial Horizon finally perked up towards the end of the flight -- venturi-powered or vacuum pump or just plain old and tired? BTW, I used to own a 1973 MGB for many years and never went far without a comprehensive set of tools and spare parts in the trunk -- but she was a great fun car and never left me stranded.

They are good aeroplanes, the wing is efficient and handling well harmonised. I would actually want one as it doesn’t gob out hot oil and grease on a regular enough basis and is far too fast 🤣

A fun airplane, by the looks of it. Perhaps not so eager to leave the ground but it has adequate performance. Cont. 0-200 power? Empty wt? The stall warner seems a tad touchy and not very useful as is.

Empty weight is 472 kg, max weight 780 kg. O-200 engine. It’s quite a nice aeroplane but I wouldn’t want it. Was a very last minute arrangement for an airtest, about 10 minutes notice. The teenage getaway driver made the film, I’ve been a bit too busy recently!

It's quite a nice aeroplane, now sold to a new owner. I wouldn't want one, only because it's not crude enough for my taste; it didn't gob hot grease at me and it even has a starter!

Umm... regarding switching tanks.... ideally you should start and taxi on the rear, then do runup and mag tests on the front. You don't want to switch to front after the engine checks, you want to ensure the front is delivering well before takeoff...

The aircraft had not been flown in a few months. It was run on the different tank selections for quite some time, probably not clear in the film.
