same here, i remember being a small child having the little mermaid as one of my favorite movies. my mother bought the vhs knowing the voice of thumbelina was also the little mermaid and that i would love it. this song ALWAYS made me cry, because i love her voice and because the lyrics are so true for everyone living. we all want our own love. to me its like the sequel to "over the rainbow" for a girl who is a little bit more grown up and looking to be more than what she is.

I was the ONLY PERSON I knew who recognised her voice between the movies… half of the people I knew didn’t believe me… I was born in 1986… and GREW UP singing Part Of Your World, and then Thumbelina was released by Don Bluth (i grew up On his American Tale movies too) and I heard Thimbelina singing… ESPECIALLY ‘Soon’ & the AMAZING DUET ‘Let Me Be Your Wings’ urg… and ‘The Sun’… I was 8 ish maybe 9 when we saw Thumbelina in my family, damn was I annoyed nobody else could hear her!
