David commented, "And he'll never know..." So Georgia posted it to the internet (snapchat or insta or some such). It's SO dear. And the fact that both David and Jodie keep their costumes at home just in case they need to BE the Doctor....also dear. The absolute best has been Jodie and Chris Chibnall banding together to make little PSAs where Jodie's Doctor talks to kids about lockdown and how it works...and how not to be afraid. Lots of people call him Doctor Who. Hell, Peter Capaldi called him that and he's probably the biggest fan that actually appeared in the show.

After hearing Jodie tell that story about seeing a fan wearing a Doctor Who top I can't help but compare that story to the one of Travis Willingham randomly hugging someone wearing a Critical Role shirt... or something similar to that, it's been a while since I heard that story.

Basically what Jodie said about playing the Doctor and not knowing it in the moment is what Paul McGann says when I asked him a question about the show and being the Doctor.

Imagine doing this on the 15th anniversary of the Tenth Doctor and not mentioning it. David's actually in Series 1 for a min, so start there. And you should never skip Nine anyway.

The majority of "dont skip 9" gatekeepers skip 1-8 so... let people come in where they come in. If someone starts with 9, great. If they start with 11, great. If they start with 13, great. If they start with 1, 3, or 8? Great.
@ginnydoll07034 жыл бұрын
I agree, don't skip 9. Coming in on the 2nd Season of New Who, without viewing 9 leaves you lost & missing a core regeneration which lays the blueprint for WHO the Doctor is. What the show is about. When restarting the show with 9, they explained to the viewers who the Doctor is, the TARDIS, what he's doing, basically laid out the new format it would follow, plus provided a bit of his back story. This way fans being introduced to the show for the first time, who never watched didn't feel lost, like they walked in on a conversation the was already half through. Not everyone CAN watch Classic Who. Plus for many adult fans of the show now, they never had the chance to watch it when they were kids, most younger people don't realize the two countries didn't share entertainment the way they do now. Plus it's probably inconceivable to the younger generation of today, but in the 70s, NOT EVERYONE owned televisions. We didn't, lol. I never had the chance to watch it, like so many in the US say they did on PBS. I don't know why so many people talk against #9 & say you don't need to watch the season.

Aloysius Whiteboat Yeah but skipping 9 is missing a key part of the character arc for 10 and Rose as it’s very much continuous.

"Are you my mummy?" Still sticks in my brain. Though it was funny when 10 said it.

@@ginnydoll0703 As a person who started out the show deliberately skipping 9, I can tell you that while your comment was cute and all, most of it amounts to "I love 9, so you shouldn't skip." You're basically implying that most viewers have the mental capacity of a toddler and cannot comprehend movement on a screen. I had no problem understanding the things you mentioned, most of it was either shown visually or briefly mentioned in passing. I later watched Series 1, but skipping it honestly doesn't make a huge difference.

Oh my fangirling all over the place, I love every Doctor in this series. Tom Baker will always be my fave, the rest have passed the torch brilliantly. I used to watch in the 70s with my big brother when it was on PBS. I lost him in the 80s, but always think of him when watching. Since the new series started it's been stop and go as it switched platforms. I've watched the spinoffs, loved them all, Torchwood especially. Thank you James Corden (also a huge fan of you). Just wish it had been a 5-infinity hour interview!
