My mother divorced my dad when I was two years old. My dad was an alcoholic and she just couldn’t live with it any longer. My dad was a Marine in World War II and saw some horrific things and he began to drink. She told me once that if abortion was legal, I would not be here today. She took my older brother, Mike and I to California and soon remarried and had two more sons. When I was thirteen, my little brother Scotty died at the age of seven, heart attack after visiting Disneyland. It turned out he had an enlarged heart... his heart was too big for this world. We had never gone to church, read the Bible or prayed, the only feeling I had for God was hate for taking my brother. Two weeks after my little brother died, I was sound asleep in bed when I felt a burning sensation between my legs that woke me. My stepfather was on his knees with his hand between my legs and as soon as I woke up he got up and ran out of my room. I had no idea what he was doing and at first I thought I was dreaming. But now I was wide-awake, the direction he ran out of my room was towards the kitchen and in order for him to go back to his bedroom he would have to walk by my door. So I layed there wide-awake and waited. About five minutes goes by and he walks by my door, and when he did, all the memories came back and what he did to me at the age of 3 to 5 years old. The next morning I told my mother in detail. I told her the floorplan of the home we were living in at the time, One episode was around Mother’s Day and I told her what we had bought her and where we hid it. She was floored by all the details that I spoke about when I was only three years old. She kicked him out that day after 10 years of marriage. Thank God she believed me. But now my brothers were very upset with me. We lost our brother and our dad. At the age of 16 my mother finally send me to go live with my real dad In Madison Wisconsin where I spent my senior year. He did not drink when I was there until I turned 18 years old. He knew I was going back to California and he got drunk. Not a pretty sight. As I’m going back to California, this was my thinking: I was going to be rich, I was going to be famous, and I was going to be powerful. I would never marry for love like my mother did twice, I would only marry if he was rich, famous and powerful. I moved to Palm Springs, lied about my age and got a job at a discotheque called Zelda’s. One day and older man with an accent came into the discotheque and he said that I should be a model. I said yeah yeah right, what do you want to drink? Two weeks later I received at Zeldas, a first class round-trip ticket to Paris and $2000 in travelers checks. It turns out this man was Gunther Sachs, at one time married to Brigitte Bardo and was a famous photographer. My first job was the cover a French Vogue with 14 pages inside. Literally overnight, from beans & wieners to the finest champagne and caviar. For the next six weeks, jet-setting with the most powerful and richest people in the world. The Shah of Iran, Princess Grace Kelly, just to name a few. Then I found myself with these people in Monaco during the Grand Prix. Because that’s where you go when you’re rich and famous and powerful. There was a party at the Presidente hotel And as I talk to a few people like Liza Minnelli, Chandon of Chandon champagne, So many other rich and famous and powerful. My feet finally hit the ground, I walked out into the balcony overlooking the French Riviera. As I look through the glass door at all these rich and powerful people of the world, I thought to myself, “these are the most miserable people I’ve ever met in my life”. Now what do I do. I found out in such a short time that having money and fame did not fill that void in my heart and I wanted to jump off that balcony. But instead I became an international fashion model with every cover of every magazine and paparazzi wherever I went. I was traveling the world, making a lot of money. I had fame, I had fortune, my friends envied me, my parents were proud of me but I was empty inside, world-weariness, feelings of disappointment, if not despair-the feeling that the world cannot satisfy the expectations or desires of the human heart. I drank, I did drugs, I was promiscuous… Just trying to find what it was that this world could not satisfy. I had hated who I had become, a drunk, druggie slut. I was 23 when I found out I was pregnant, the father did not want the child, my agent was upset because I was booked out for 6 months, would lose a lot of money. Everyone around me wanted me to abort. So I had an abortion...never felt good about it... but moved on. I was living in Zürich and had finally decided that I had enough. I was 24 years old and I was just tired and I hated myself. I decided that I was going to commit suicide. But then my agent called me and told me that JC Penney wanted to use me for their catalog and they were going to pay me a lot of money but it was in Chicago. I thought, “that’s perfect because then my body would be in America and they wouldn’t have to ship me back”. When I was 20 years old, My dad became a born-again Christian. I didn’t talk to him, just sent him a post card where ever I was. I hadn’t seen him in years. When I got to Chicago I decided to Rent-A-Car and drive to see my dad as a formal goodbye although he knew nothing that was going on inside of me. He was living in a trailer in Fontenelle Iowa and when he open the door, he was completely different. I saw a sense of peace and a sense of joy that I never saw in him before. And I ask myself, what does he know that I don’t? He’s living in a trailer in Fontenelle Iowa for goodness sake’s. He was shocked when I asked him if I can go to church with him the next day. This is the first time I was ever in church and I didn’t know what to expect. I could not tell you what the sermon was because I don’t remember but afterwords the pastor asked everyone to bow their heads in prayer and so I did. As he was praying, he said these words “have you had fame, fortune and fashion and you’re still empty inside? You need Jesus“ I could not believe my ears, how did this pastor know what I was going through when my own father didn’t know. I was afraid to stand up because I thought my dad would see what a wretched person I had become and embarrass him in front of the whole town. But I knew if I didn’t stand up I would die. This is the first time I’ve ever been to church and I did not know what to expect. Are they going to start throwing homegrown tomatoes at me? I was shaking so hard that the pastor said that my dad needed to walk me down to the altar, he didn’t think I could make it. And as soon as I said the sinners prayer, I felt washed clean white as snow and that vacuum in my heart was completely filled that I can barely contain it. The scales fell off my eyes and I can understand the Bible and I knew I had purpose. God Layed on my heart that I have a daughter waiting for me in heaven. I did not know what was happening to me then but I know now that it was the Holy Spirit entering my soul and filling the void in my heart, that I can barely contain it! I believe God has put that void in everyone’s heart. People are continuing looking to fill it with worldly things...but only God can fill that void. I’ve made a lot of mistakes since... it did not make me perfect, but I am forgiven. Overnight sensations often awaken the next morning to find the glamor tarnished and the success fleeting. But when we’re filled with God’s compassionate love, we’re happier, stronger, and useful. True success isn’t overnight; it’s eternal. Fame and fortune may be God’s will for a few. It’s the devil’s trap for many. Only the love of Jesus satisfies us forever. I want you to know that He is knocking at the door of your heart...❤️. Let Him in. 🥰

Wow! And I thought my testimony was good. But yours takes the cake! I was just chasing after what the world has to offer. I got most of it and still felt empty inside. I ended up climbing a mountain and got lost in the dark at 12,000 feet in a snowstorm, facing freezing to death. I called 911, and my cellphone died before they could get my location. Best thing that ever happened to me. I realized how precious my life was and repented and told the Lord I would live for Him if He would save me. I've shared my testimony thousands of times, and I would guess you have also. Don't ever stop giving glory to God and showing people there's still hope for them no matter their situation. Wish I could watch your life as a movie.Ha ha.

Church. Jesus Loves the Church like he Loves Himself, his words not mine. A man Loves his wife like he Loves Himself, so to be reverent, when you talk about Church, you're talking about the equivalent of the man's wife, what ever is said about Church, always ask yourselves, would you say that to a man about his wife? So what is Church? Coincidentally we are discussing this on KZbin, where how to videos flourish. Why do those how to videos flourish? Because people love seeking advice on projects. When a man is building for instance he will talk to experienced people, often he will get all kinds of input before he starts his project... fine and that is good. Salvation is a lifelong project. It works on your soul, your spirit. Church is a formal place you go to get input, to share perhaps, to hear other angles, to maybe grab the part you missed. Jesus emphasized the importance of this. To pray with others, to talk scripture with others, in person, to show up, he went to temple, he did it all the time. It's Your Soul your building not a shed, so KZbin videos or reading alone don't cut it, your soul is eternal, everlasting, so you go, you go worship with groups of people. You study this way, and in all other ways, but Church is fundamental to being Christian, and being saved. Studying scripture alone is like trying to play football alone. Church is where it's at. The priest, pastor, deacon, what ever, is the focal point mostly. People go to that man w things, he's heard things you never will, this helps him do a better job in mass and with his sermon. The Word is meant to be heard this way. Paul's letters write extensively on this Subject of "what is church" (new testament) Unless you get in the game, you're not really playing. God Bless

Yes, i feel the same. I've been a sinner and a believer my whole life but it's only been since covid that i really started to look inside of myself and search spiritually. I think that is the only good thing that came from covid is that many people are turning to God for answers and realizing how important our relationship to Him is. I was born and raised in the Catholic church, perochial schooled till 6th grade, Attended Mass, was an alter boy, save the jokes because no priest has ever fondled my junk, but I noticed so much in the church that even as a kid I knew was not of the lord, and that is primarily why I ran from all things religious, I considered myself agnostic for many years. I am 45 years old now, and I recently had the profound urge to seek the word. I asked Jesus Christ to enter my heart and to guide my life. I can say this, I feel so much more hopeful about life and the afterlife since I have been in the word, and I think that alone should be enough reason for everyone to find the lord.

And more incredibly is that when the Apostles went out teaching and after Paul became an Apostle himself. What I find absolutely fascinating is that they taught by word of mouth.
