I wanted the Giants to draft Ben and I read that Coughlin called Roethlisberger the day before the draft and told him that the Giants were going to draft him. Not to be. Ernie Accorsi claimed that Manning was the most pro-ready QB in the draft and traded for him on draft day. Roethlisberger was 13-0 as a rookie and Manning was 1-6 as a rookie. The Giants would have won three, maybe four SBs if Ben had been their quarterback.

The reason you would bench Rodgers now is because there's a chance to see what you have in the younger players. This season is over. The focus should move to next season and talent evaluation. Play Jordan Travis. Maybe there's nothing there. Maybe he's the next Purdy. It would be a good time to do it because there's zero pressure for the final games. If he wins, amazing. If he loses, who cares? It's basically free playing time for him in zero stakes games. Would it be embarrassing for Rodgers? Sure but who cares? The Jets don't owe him anything and they certainly don't owe him more than they owe the 52 other guys on the team. Aaron's needs or wants or what's best for Aaron should not continue to come before the needs of the 52 others and if you keep playing Aaron just because "We don't want to be mean." then you ARE putting the wants/needs of ONE guy ahead of 52 others.
