@@mikem1917 you're absolutely right. But this two party system seems so polarizing, yet strangely vague, since the breadth and width within each party is so huge. And this system doesn't seem to produce or promote nearly enough decently equipped candidates for the job. This although the US is the size of Europe doesn't make sense to me. There are many aspects of US government that impress me in regards to processes, procedures, but the political system in regards to public voting seems ineffective in far too many important ways. It doesn't support rejuvenation or distribution of power or wealth reasonably, and affords the entities with the most wealth all the political power. It's an odd interpretation of democracy in modern days. The fundamentalism was always going to be troublesome. The systems the country used as a guide and model back in the day, mainly the French one, has since and will always be adjusted with time and the development to meet the ideals, it's part of the very duty of government /parliament, wheras in the US everything is still based on a constitution that reflects the 18th century reality, long since gone. From a European perspective at least, this seems proposterous. Very much akin to religious fundamentalists understanding of their faith. Unreasonable.

I'm not convinced that's how things work. I know it's meant to though. I mean, one thing is voting between two candidates each representing a party. But everything leading up to that is really determined by financial supporters, entities with huge capital to gain or lose depending on the outcome. The campaigns are entirely built on the funding.
