It's funny watching JB play EJ licks that he's been so heavily influenced by. JB is good but EJ in his prime was so creative and was doing things that no other guitarists at the time were doing. I'm sure JB studied and learned most of EJ's music. I can clearly hear a lot of EJ in JB's music, especially the Black Communion material.

+Nikolai Lyazkov Joe sounded louder because the camera (and mic) were right in front of Joe's amp. If it had been in front of Eric's amp you would be complaining about Eric having a guest and then drowning him out. Think before you bitch.
@libbysvideos9 жыл бұрын
+Nikolai Lyazkov , I'm sorry to read your interpretation of what happened that night, but, you are wrong. I was there - it is my video. Joe was Eric's invited guest. Do you think Eric would have invited someone to play not one, but two songs with him if he resented him? No, he would not. Joe did not turn Eric's amp down, the sound is uneven for one reason, and one reason only - MY CHOSEN position - proximity to Joe. Joe and Eric like and respect one another. You do them both a disservice with your incorrect assumptions.
@libbysvideos9 жыл бұрын

Joe's amp is closer to the camera and pointing straight at it, that's why joe is 'louder'. It has bugger all to do with the sound engineer. Amp's tend to be very directional. Plus Joe is using a small fender combo by the looks of it not his 4x12 rig.

Don't understand Bonamassa & his need to step into Eric's lead solo on several instances. Unfortunately, not the first time. The thing I love about Clapton is that he is so gracious onstage with other players. He seems to be content just to be there. I remember seeing him on video of Chuck Berry's birthday concert or something - he was just sitting back until time for his solo and then he steps forward, plays an amazing solo, then steps back into the background. Awesome. Joe seems to feel he has to prove he can play "better" than whoever he is onstage with. I thought the same thing when I saw the video of he and Derek

The thing is, if you are not gracious to your mentors, they will not be gracious to you the next time around. There is a time to to be aggressive, but when one of your idols invites you onstage to play at THEIR show is not that time. Maybe that's why he's had to do email campaigns etc, to try and get on Letterman and Leno. Maybe he's been blackballed for his attitude. Either way, Joe has earned his place as one of the best all around guitarist of all time.

@joeytruelove11 жыл бұрын
I think it's a matter of EQ and dynamics too. EJ's tone is smoother (and his more recent tone even muddy) and therefore doesn't have the bite of JB's or the presence of the drummer's cymbals .
