This is the Bonamassa sound that I first latched onto. What a band. They knock this song into a new realm.

The voicing, notes, and emoting that Joe extracts from that sweet Gibson Les Paul is mind blowing. And he sings while he plays. Hitting strong on all three cylinders!

The bassist, Eric Czar looks a lot like Jack Cassidy, from the good old days. His playing is out-friggin'-standing. Super excellent.
@Ken771148 жыл бұрын
You must be old like me!!!!!! First saw Jack Cassidy in '68 at the old Carosel Ballroom in SF, as the "new" Jefferson Airplane knocked it silly. Thought Jack was the coolest! Marty Balin, Yorma K., and this gorgeous chick named Grace Slick! She was dressed as Robin Hood and at the break at the goodie stand (we all had munchies! :-)) she stood right behind me, I turned and she smiled a smile to melt me! Then the Dead played. What a buzzing night! I, too, thought of Jack C. immediately! Rockin' on!
@Mykoe98 жыл бұрын
Yep, 63, loved the Airplane. Loved Slick. She sure was a pretty thing. But we all grow older. I used to be pretty too. I've been a pro guitar player for 50 years, almost famous. Those were the days huh?

Thanks Rick! I moved to San Jose, Ca. in Jan. '62 and began my 48 year career in the finish building supply business. My love from early days was the budding blues, R & R music. First 2 concerts were in '58-'59 in Eugene, Or...Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino..sat in folding chairs right in front of them and they smiled at me and my buddy. In the Bay Area 21 years, I have seen the greatest of the greats..the list is too long for here....but McCartney and Linda "Wings Over America" tour then Eric Clapton, both at the SF Cow Palace. Seen Bonnie Raitt (LOVE HER!), Doc and Merle, Lynryd Skynyrd (3 times the originals) ..always closing with "Freebird" for some 15 minutes of mayhem!! Robin Trower, Joe Cocker, Kinks, Leon Redbone, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young (4 times in various groupings and venues), Joan Baez, B.B. King (WOW!), Janis Joplin before she did Woodstock..oh my, such awesome memories of fun (as I remember). As Timothy Leary said.."If you remember the '60's, you weren't there!" :-) Gonna' see Joe Bonamassa (my new hero) 10/16/17 in Eugene, Or. at the Hult Center..9 rows back orchestra ($125. per). Never stop rockin' brother!

Ken Skeen When.my phone went off I was happy to see it was your reply post. Thanks for the very cool stories, I can only wish for those days. Joe Bonamasso has that special something when he is on stage, I'm not gonna say ' perform ". Its an experience to see him pour his essence and soul through his guitar. Yes there are great guitarists that are right on technically and hit all the notes but Joe is beyond that. When Clapton requests playing with you, you know there is something very special going on. Joe seems down to earth and not filled with himself and is quite generous. How many artists give away albums to download for free? I hope the show in October to see Joe is another special experience for you to add to all those great memories of the past.

Wow, I loved this song on the Blind Faith album so much. First time I heard it, back than, it totally swept me of my feet. I remember those days, dancing the night away, having great bonfires at the beach, lots of friends, wine, fun cigarettes, nice food, LSD, oh my, what great memories of a time so long ago. Being a granny now, I am totally in awe how Mr. Bonamassa does a great job with his version of this song. This time the cover totally matches up with the original. Thanks for sharing.

I am so with you DirkjeA!!!!! All the above. We lived in La Selva Beach below Aptos on the Monterey Bay. What parties...medical LSD, indica pure, and a touch of medical coke. Oh Lord! I am 76 now and never thought I'd make 60! I, too, am a grandpa and old! Man was it fun or what!?

Your post was just the way it was back in those days in St. Augustine Florida. Getting high down at Summer Haven Matanzas Inlet building a bonfire on the beach. Waiting for the sun to come up to go surfing and listening to the ocean pound the rocks. Watching the orange sunshine through slits in my eyes. haha!! I loved blind faith , Hendrix, Zepplin etc. Learning songs on my Gibson 345 and chasing women around , going skinny dipping and looking at the phosphorous under the water. I actually think JB is a step beyond Blind Faith as far as his guitar playing. Never thought that was possible back then. Thank God I made it this far. (Rusty)

Agreed, Eric's not a pocket bassist and there was pretty much two lead guitars when they played, they could of made this a progressive trio, its ashamed because I haven't seen Eric since.

@scuss22 ай бұрын
Somebody I knew 15 years ago introduced me to Ryan McGarvey's You Tube videos. He said you like the Blues. Check out a local favorite from the big city. Then he said the guy that found Ryan was Joe Bonamassa. I bought Joe's Dust Bowl CD, but his music after that and the musician's just wasn't Kenny or Eric. Then Joe found Tyler Bryant and his earlier music was great. Now, Tyler is married to a musician and their duets are cool to listen to. He grew up too!
