Facts. The 4k footage alone was enough for me tbh. In reality any piece of media on Michael is an understatement. He's the epitome of larger than life. You could make a 10 hr docu series just on the making of one of his studio albums, especially everything that dropped before the bs in '93

For a die-hard Prince fan like Joe Budden, acknowledging the fact that MJ was capable of writing his own songs says a lot. You finally set aside your fanaticism and accepted the truth. It must have been hard for you to admit. You used to talk so much about MJ without having any idea of what he was capable of as an artist. You only knew he could sing and dance, but not that he was also a songwriter and producer. You learned an important lesson: inform yourself first before speaking about an artist or a topic.

None of this is new but it helps alot of casual MJ fans truly understand what he was on the verge of doing. MJ was going after all Marvel franchises to make movies. This after owning 1/2 of Sonys publishing or catalog (can't remember). Not to mention the moves he was starting to make in gaming. He did the entire Sonic 3& Knuckles soundtrack then the allegations hit. If they didn't jam him up, MJ would of been the top bussiness tycoon in the 3 biggest entertainment industries.

It wasn’t marketed as “Learn Something New” with Thriller’s 40th Anniversary Documentary. It’s a commemoration of a ground breaking and historical moment in life and music. Whether you learned something new or not is sort of irrelevant, because the ride it takes you on generally keep you engaged on how this magical moment was created and just feels good to watch and reminisce. It was Joe AND Katherine's hold over the family that created Victory / the tour. Had it just been Joseph who was making those demands of Michael, he would have dismissed them. By 1983-84, Michael had been without Joe's management for almost five years. He had no legal or professional hold over Michael. But Mike's mom always, always had an emotional hold, like all moms do over their kids. She was pragmatic and had nine kids, not just Mike, and she wanted them the other Jackson men to have a taste of the financial rewards her most talented son was enjoying.
