My football heads will get this. The middle hook was the first read in the progression, slant was #2 read, flat was #3 read. If he has time to scan that ball is going to the flat not to Chase. But I guarantee, if that’s Aaron Rodgers or Brady, once he sees man coverage on Chase he’s making that his number one and he’s gonna give his best player a chance to make a play.

Great QB’s with the freedom to change the play wouldn’t hesitate to give a hand signal and give their best player a chance. IMO Chase is one of the best route runners in the league going up a corner who peeks into the backfield a ton and had just been beat 2 plays before for a big play. Give him a chance. They kinda just used him as a decoy this play which is kinda stupid.

Whether you agree or not, if Burrow had evaded the sack or had a couple seconds, Chase was his 2nd read, who was wide open. So "not looking right" doesn't matter.

No, the defender between Uzomah and the receiver on the far side was in position to make a play and the flat was not in a good position to get the first down with someone right on top of him plus, the play was for a quick out to Uzomah but he couldnt get it there because of that defender. Cap that off with the fact that Donald was there within a second, he didn't have time to read the whole field.

Burrow messed up on this play. He went for the home run knowing he has to get a first down. They were on the edge of McPherson's range. If there was 5 seconds left Taylor kicks it but it was the right decision to go for it with 48 seconds left. Back on track you need a yard. Burrow needs to get the ball out quick to a short option. He is aware that his pass protection was horrid all year and they were having their worst performance of the season. Matter of fact Cincinnati's line had the worst performance in Super Bowl history. Taylor needs to be in his ear telling him to get the first down. Uzomah is where this ball should have gone. It's where Burrow should have been looking because it was 4th down. Everybody talking about how open Chase was. Pay attention to Uzomah instead of Chase. Uzomah was the only player on either team outside the left hash because the guy on him ran into the safety. At the very least he gets inside the 20 and if he makes one man miss (which db's struggle to stop Uzomah in 1 on 1 situations) it's a touchdown. Chase shouldn't be the topic here. It should be if Burrow goes where he should have, an easy completion to Uzomah, they may have scored.
