That's NOT sealing the deal. It's actually giving the other team a shot (granted, the equivalent of a lottery shot). Tennessee is out of timeouts and it's 2nd down - the Bengals can simply kneel down a couple times and run the clock out. Instead, by scoring and going up 16, they allowed for the very slim possibility that the Titans could score twice and get 2 two-point conversions if they can get an onside kick. As a Bears fan who's team lost on a Hail Mary earlier this year, I see how this shit can happen. In fact, Joe Flacco led a comeback some years back by scoring two TDs in the exact same situation - the other team could run the clock out and instead the team scored to go up by 2 TDs with less than two minutes left. It's just a dumb strategy to score there and that's all Taylor said to Burrow.

@@zorotarded178 As I've pointed out to a few others, the Bengals offensive line is one of the best, and it's been for the last 3 years. Burrow has only faced an incredibly low 19% pressure rate over that span. On the other end of the spectrum, Daniel Jones faced over a 30% pressure rate during the same three years. The Daniel Jones of the world have a right to complain about offensive lines getting them killed, the Joe Burrows of the world do not. The defense is a different story, but the bottom line is that during the two years that Burrow was injured, the team had a little bit better record when he was off the field than on. He doesn't seem as important as people think he is. It's different than guys like Aaron Rodgers or Lamar Jackson, whose teams would always fall apart when they got hurt.

Just to aid my point, here. @legupff9 сағат бұрын
@@dereckvineyard5792 4-3 is a winning record, dude. They were 5-5 with Burrow. The point here being that, if Burrow was so critically important to the team, it didn't show last year, and with a 6-8 record with him back this year, it's still not showing. I'm not saying he's bad, but during his career, when he's missed time, the team's record hasn't changed much for the worse. But let's examine Browning's games, for a second: Here are the 3 losses: Pittsburgh (2x) and the Chiefs The Chiefs won the SB, and those "terrible" Steelers won 10 games (more than the Bengals did). In short, the three losses during which he played were against better teams. Burrow's Bengals losses were mostly against tough teams, too (Baltimore x2, Cleveland, Houston - all 10+ win teams), but also lost to the struggling Titans. A fair question is exactly how good Burrow is, versus how good his receivers are? Don't you think it's a bit too amazing a coincidence that a completely undrafted QB, who has been bouncing around on practice squads for years, suddenly gets a chance to play and ends up leading the league with the exact same completion percentage that Burrow lead the league with prior (70.4%)? Browning's numbers paced well over 4000 yards passing and 30+ combined touchdowns over the course of a full season. It's important to note that the only other time that Burrow missed significant games, the team also did better without him than with him: 2-4 without him in 2020 versus 2-7-1 with him. A lot of times, QBs look better (or worse) than they are because of their team. Remember how Jimmy Garoppolo's 49ers were winning about 70% of games with him, and then he couldn't win on the Raiders and was benched? Remember how the 49ers replaced him with a guy who was the last pick in the draft and now they've won about 70% of games since that guy, Brock Purdy, was installed? Remember how they've made the SB (and lost) with both Garoppolo and Purdy? How well do you think Purdy would do on an offense that wasn't so loaded? Teams make the QB, a lot of the time, is my point..there are a very limited number of Qbs (such as Allen and Jackson) who make the team.

I see this statement a lot, even though Burrow has faced one of the very lowest pressure rates of any QB in the league over the last 3 seasons. Just 19% pressure! That's incredibly low for a 3 year span - only Tom Brady wouldn't be jealous. He's getting way more protection than most QBs can dream of. Also, Chase Brown is handling a fair amount of carries - I'm pretty sure he took over 20 more today. They are a throw first team, for good reason. They have two of the most elite receivers in the league, a great offensive line, and a good receiving tight end. Plus, their defense often puts them in position to have to throw.

Joe wasn't upset about the score. He was upset about the penalties that backed them up to the 11, 5 yards at a time. They were 1st and goal at the 1. It was a sloppy game. IMO, that's what Joe is pissed about.

This isn’t running up the score. Running up the score would be like if they were up 42-14 and went for a TD instead of a kneel down. The bengals here were up 31-21. With a field goal, it’s 34-21, still a 2 possession game. Anything can happen in football, and onside kicks, while unlikely, aren’t impossible. This is simple just a team finishing the job to guarantee the win

I recall as a kid attending a divisional game between the Rams and 49ers at Anaheim Stadium during the 80's. It was a tight game until the 4th quarter when it turned into a 49er route. On the second to last play the 49ers scored an INT with the defender running the ball down to the Rams 10 yard line just before our seats on our side of the end zone. At the last play from scrimmage Joe Montana came out with his offensive crew and took a knee to let the games last remaining seconds on the clock wind down. It was the first time I recall seeing a quarterback 'taking a knee.' The Rams fans in my section stood up and politely applauded Montana and the O-line. I stood between my two grandfathers with one of them saying "That's showing some class." But that was in the day when integrity and sportsmanship were still prevalent attributes within the game. The kids playing these days try to hog up all the glory and accolades that they can get

If you kick a field goal there, youre up 13 pts. The Titans could score, onside and go for a win without you getting to touch the ball. Why would you not attempt to seal it? Thats bad coaching and probably why they keep losing games where their offense puts up monster numbers.

As Tennessee was driving down the field with under a minute to go, I was thinking to myself that if the Titans scored with enough time on the clock, they could go for 2, recover an onside kick, and go for a Hail Mary and another 2 point conversion to tie the game. Crazier things have definitely happened. Never apologize for scoring…ESPECIALLY not when you have a defense that is as bad as the Bengals’ defense has been this season.
