Joe was a real original..and, also a rock and roll survivor. Lots of people who watched him melting down said, "Forget it..he's a goner" but he sure fooled us pretty good, eh? And some of the best work he did was not only clean and sober, but well past middle age. Rest well, rough diamond. You were a real example of what it means to walk through the fire, and come out the other side stronger and tougher. And still shining.

This is a cover by Joe Cocker of Ray Charles song with the exact same name...
@grahamgill96852 жыл бұрын
Technically "The Coasters" recorded it first (1965), Then Ronnie Millsap (later in '65), THEN Ray Charles (1966). So while Ray made the song famous it's not really "his song".

Hello :) This is taken from a German best-of CD "Blues & Ballads", released in 1993.

Yeah, I also just re-bought this CD because of its studio version of Let's go get stoned. I had it as cassette before. Do you have any information why it wasn't released on the regular albums at that time? Or was is a B side? On the same collection is a version of Let it be. As far as I know it's not the same version that was released as bonus track on the Joe Cocker! (1969) album. It's the same instrumentation track but with vocal overdubs of Cocker and it was released 1981. But not sure if this is right.

I wonder what he thought of John Belushi goofing on him?
@soulshouter1093 жыл бұрын
@@josephhickman7244 Contrary to what has been reported back then, Joe was impressed by John’s vocals. I’m glad Joe had his best years, musically and financially during his comeback in the early 80’s until his passing. RIP Joe.

@ oeyv1 Thanks for the upload! Do you have Joe's "I'm so glad I'm standing here today" performance at the grammys? It would be a great treat for all Joe Cocker fans. More power!!

The live Woodstock performance has altered lyrics. The studio version is great but for me nothing hits it like the Woodstock version. "buy myself a little lid" just fits lol
