@Cora Visser So do I. And always will. I saw him four times in Germany - last time in Aachen, when he had already lost his hair because of chemotherapy. I ached for him, but he could summon his voice and master it, though not from the first songs on. Simply love him. Most people do only know his loud and hoarse rock songs, but he has a very clear and beautiful voice in the soft and often sad love-songs … Just listen to "Performance". Can't imagine someone could NOT love him.

I would have loved to hear Mitch Ryder sing this song, nobody sang harder than Mitch, he lived hard, and it surely showed in his voice. On some of his albums his instrument was listed that he played the Throat, and rightly so.

Quite brilliant but it was around this time that he started to lose it. The power & richness of his voice started to erode due to his lifestyle! I love ya Joe!
@fidelio53904 жыл бұрын
True. But he told his audience at a concert in Frankfurt/Main (Germany) that he planned to stop smoking. He was mad at himself then, because the high tones would not come anymore. I think he did stop. But it was not in time to prevent the cancer from killing him at last. So sad. So very very sad! Love you too, Joe!

Also, don't forget Bobby Blue Bland's version with his uniquely exceptional tone, and Eric Burden and the Animals did a gutsy version as well.

Not anywhere close. Besides being a musical masterpiece with its heavenly and spooky instrumentals JC correctly portrays the anguish. Anguish I know because I was in the situation of the song. I witnessed the love of my life die so sweet so cold and so fair and I died standing there. JC sings the deep pain I felt. It has always comforted me. How many la-de-la songs did JC take and put proper passion into? Songs like cry me a river and that incredibly boring little help from the beatles, dudnt you know you have to cry and do right woman early in the morning was made into extreme blues with a voice that portrays the deepest blues. And then the epic blue medley which elevated the blues to the height of epic. Sure listen to NICE music if that's what you think music is. To me its about giving my emotions an extreme workout combined with superb musicians
