They are out there, we just hear about the screw ups. I think Jeremy Renner is like this. He was gravely injured last winter while helping a stranded motorist. Last night my husband was watching a show he started where they rehab a fleet of vehicles he bought to be used by communities and non profits that need them. His injury has halted season 2 though. There are genuinely good people out there, I am just so sad the world lost Joe. He truly is the best person I have ever researched. Thanks for watching.

I found this guy when looking up nfl players that died young. I ended up reading about Joe Delaney and was absolutely amazed at the love this dude had for his fellow man. To enter water knowing he couldnt swim in hopes of saving those boys was brave. He knew he probably wouldnt make it out alive, but went in anyways. What a legend!

Very sad 😭 but really good video thanks for sharing this story I've been a NFL fan my whole life and I've never heard the whole story about Joe Delaney just that he had tragically drowned this great man was a true hero

Chiefs need to retire his number and prepare a remembrance video in his honor since his story is an incredible one and sets a high bar. He set a rare example of true selflessness among pro athletes and needs recognition.
@MMorbid Жыл бұрын
I watched a video made by Chiefs Nation when researching him, meaning the team had it made. While they haven’t “officially” retired his number I will be very surprised if they ever use it again. There is also a 30 for 30 short about him too I was able to access on the ESPN plus app. Only time I’ve ever used it! It came in a bundle, lol.

Same (graduated H.S. in '81). Even tho a CFL fan, I did follow a fair bit of NFL too, then. I could NEVER call an athlete a 'hero' for athletic accomplishments. This man was a true hero.

Too bad instead of stupid letters from presidents & some of the awards & memorials everyone hadn't sent cheques with a 37 on it & as many Zeros afterwards as they could afford!!! $37 - $37,000 - 370,000 etc!!! Sure would have helped his wife & Daughters a heck of a lot more!!! 😢❤😢❤😢❤

It’s possible people did, but that information wasn’t available for me to know. I wondered if the NFL did anything for his family, again I don’t know. Either way this was so sad 😭. I had never heard of him, but when I travel I always Google who might be buried nearby. He was buried 15 minutes from my hotel when I went to Gibsland. I’m so glad I now know his story and could share it.
@elspet3813 Жыл бұрын
Yes maybe some did but logic says it couldn't have been any great amount total or she wouldn't have had to sell the house. It was certainly a nice one but not like he'd financed a million dollar mansion before he even got the big contract he was certainly going to get because he was a fantastic player. Thanks for sharing his story and I wish his widow & kids & grandkids etc as much happiness as possible. May he RIP. I sure hope the boy he saved did turn his life around!!! EVERYONE who survives a tragedy like that definitely needs counseling and help!!!
