Joseph Ekins hails from a rust belt state which didn’t seem as rusty when he was growing up. He started playing early with a cheapo roy rogers guitar sourced from the basement of his grandmother’s friend. Playing in various bands through the late 80’s for fun and profit as well as teaching guitar for a bit, allowed him to hone a couple of things during the "more is more “ era.
He spent 10 years in television Production in the midwest before relocating to the west coast to spend another 18 years in the LA production world.
Continually practicing and playing, Joseph is working on his craft with a bit more musical maturity these days.
Live at Lockett's is an intimate concert series filmed in Christopher Lockett's living room in Los Angeles. It features artists from LA's eclectic roots music and poetry scenes. The performers are grounded in a roots tradition, but are not bound by it.
One camera, one lens, no zooms, no cuts, not even a microphone in frame - just a lone shotgun mic mounted overhead in a c-stand. Nothing between the performer and the audience.
