I never heard credit given to Joe Jackson for writing the song they made a sizeable ammount of money off of. I'm sure it's in the fine print on the record.
@ROOKTABULA3 жыл бұрын
@@edwardlubin322 Joe made all the money off that song. Unlike England, performers in North America don't get a performer royalty, only the song writer gets the $$$$. Anthrax would have made their $$ of sales of the album.

I can't believe the number of people here who are comparing Joe Jackson to Anthrax. It's like comparing apples to oranges; it's the same song, but they're drastically different genres. In this case, "better" is truly subjective.

Joe Jackson once said that he thought the Anthrax version of this song was played too slowly. He bragged that his band played it twice as fast as them. I was skeptical of this so I checked the recorded version from Look Sharp to the Anthrax version. And the Joe Jackson version was actually a few beats slower than Anthrax. But now that I see this, I understand what he was talking about--I don't know if it's twice as fast as Antrax but it's significantly faster.

It always amuses me when people are shocked to learn that some some they love turns out to be a cover. It wasn't some big secret when Anthrax released their version; And obviously none of these people who "love" Anthrax so much ever actually bought the album "Persistence Of Time", since the songwriting credit was clearly printed on the label and the liner notes.
