Boomer did a fantastic job of finally explaining better than anyone ever (to my knowledge) why Patriots assistants almost never become successful head coaches. It’s kind of ironic that the same reason the assistants get the job offers in the first place- that being the greatness of Bill Belichick, is actually the reason for their failures. They come from a situation of total organization and control cultivated by Belichick, where things are predictable and highly stable for all the years the assistants are there, then hired by teams often in total chaos, disarray, instability, or rapid change and unpredictability, where they are expected to now take on much more responsibility as head coaches than ever before. That makes total sense for why they are actually not prepared for such changes or eventually fall apart under the pressure. The Patriots assistants only shine in the system set up by the master. They do not learn to be the master because the master does not put them in that position as he’s the total master!!
@andyshepard43092 жыл бұрын
If Mara wanted Belichick's system, then he should have courted Bill from the Patriots and given him the HC and GM job back in 2017 and lobbied like hell for it instead of going for sloppy seconds

Judge couldn’t overcome his own self. The dude was clueless when it came to in game management. The sequence a minute before halftime during the Tampa game is a perfect example. No timeout immediately after 1st down…only to take it with like 15 seconds left? Then you start trying to make plays? What? That’s beyond incompetent. Also, assuming Toney was a Gettleman pick is a little too self serving for Boomer’s absurd narrative about Judge being the victim of circumstances.

Good point by Boomer: Belichick’s former assistants all had to try to fight through dysfunctional organizations. With all due respect, Belichick didn’t. Parcells had the Pats primed for Belichick’s tenure.

Stability and consistency are awesome. I will lead to success in anything IF you have the right person running whatever it is you hired them to run. Judge wasn't making anything better. I don't want to hear about injuries. Other teams (including former Giants teams) have had injuries (all teams do every year) but you can't use them as an excuse to just be completely noncompetitive we even the worst teams you play. And that's what this season devolved into. Joe Judge essentially waved the white flag for a third of the season because he couldn't raise the level of play of the guys he had available to him.

“You’re not thinking Fromm is play, you’re thinking Glennon is playing, but Glennon can’t play…” Glennon was Judge’s choice. This radio show is becoming it’s own type of clown show.
@brianguarnieri4912 жыл бұрын
I mightve missed it but i don’t remember seeing that Glennon was Judge’s choice. Either way that decision was made because they believed they were too limited with Colt McCoy as backup because he can’t push the ball down the field (despite them upsetting Seattle last year.) The sad part is McCoy is exactly what you want in a backup; he can do a little with his legs and he won’t turn the ball over excessively, literally a game manager QB.

The judge firing bothers me so much because nothing is more important to me than integrity and honesty. You can hate judge but you can't say he lacked either. I can't say that about ownership. It is COMPLETELY OBVIOUS that he told them when he was hired that this wouldn't be overnight, that this will take years to create what we want here, that he could go for a quick fix and maybe win 9 games guick but that won't translate into long term success. I 100% believe they gave him their word or I don't think he would have taken the job. Ownership pissed me off beyond belief with the Eli benching that they approved and now this. I'm close to being done after 51 years of loving the Giants. The coach they could bring in that could work with this team and continue the culture is Flores. If they hire Pederson I am DONE!

@vexthegreat91672 жыл бұрын
You are totally ignoring the fact that ownership, the GM, and coaching have a lot to do with how a team performs. Trevor Lawrence would have been rookie of the year had he played with the Panthers or the Saints rather than the dysfunctional Jags and their ridiculous choice of Urban Meyer as a coach. Any other coach or coaching staff in the league could have gotten more out of that team. There is no guarantee that Mahomes would be Mahomes without Andy Reid (a guy with a successful coaching tree), Eric Bienamie, and a stable Chiefs organization. They coach, hire, and build their roster around the modern NFL. It’s what helps them thrive. But, you also need to remember that Joe Judge was hired based on the same philosophy on which the Giants roster was built: an out of date franchise with absolutely no concept of what it takes to compete in the modern NFL. Mara hired Gettleman and other Giants retreads because the “blue collar” and “old school” narrative matter more than football. Gettleman drafted, signed, and released players based on that. Mara and Gettleman picked Judge the same way they picked that roster. He failed because his hiring was part of a failing strategy.

What a bunch of bullshit that's why I don't listen to these guys. I just heard John Mara in his zoom press conference say that all personnel decisions are made by the GM and the Head Coach. If they are in agreement on drafting a player or signing a FA that's what happens. Shurmur was not saddled with players he didn't want just like Judge wasn't saddled with players he didn't want. They were along with Dave Gettleman the dysfunction of the Giants organization and it was proven by their records. As usual these two are wrong especially when it comes to knowing the Giants.
