Joe's 'This Is Your Life' programme was first broadcast on ITV 20/04/1994 and was
recorded on 20/03/1994. Here are Joe's personal memories of the moment from his autobiography ..." It was one of the proudest moments of my life when Michael Aspel stepped out on stage at the end of my concert. I was amazed. I can honestly say I did not have a clue about what was going to happen. The whole occasion was like a dream, and what had happened didn’t really sink in until I saw the TV recording of the show several weeks later."

A few months before he died he was up here in Suffolk and unbeknown to me a guy I knew knew him. He told me when we were having a beer that he and another friend went out for dinner with him a few nights before. I couldn’t believe it . They didn’t know I was a fan so didn’t ask me to join them. I’m sick to my stomach that I never had a chance to meet Joe even though I had seen him in concert. I would’ve loved to have met him snd introduced him to my wife. He was such a lovely man. Also, obviously ridiculously talented. Such a frigging loss. So talented

The theatre on the North Pier here in Blackpool is named after him. He was immense. He was so ill so often yet kept fighting and he was not only badly-treated by the press, who for years made their nasty insinuations about his private life (nobody's business by the way) and also tv was often strangely absent from his career. He should have been primetime Saturday night. Bless him.

Great entertainer and was so confident in his roles as Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Bruce Forsyth, yet when he is just him he came across as nervous, unsure and shy, humbling, will be sorely missed as died in august 2019 💖

Just the horns at the beginning……boom…..walking down the hallway, mum and dad are watching tv in the front room ☁️“Oh no not “this is your life” again!” As a kid I would groan internally at this (not this specific episode) and couldn’t understand why HeMan wasn’t on, as it was far better than this. Happy glow. I absolutely loved him when I was a nipper, could not understand how he could switch and do those things with his voice, he was like a magician to my little eyes.
