I thought that at first too but re-watching the season, yes Melissa's family have in past been rude to teresa but when they made peace T, J&M in the season when it was Joey's communion you see melissa her sisters and Donna all getting along, teresa posing for photos them all having a good time being nice to each other. So I can see why he maybe thought at least Melissa's mom would be invited at least. I think the problem is that podcast where they said they put food on the table and how they been talking on podcasts about her really changed everything. Along with when teresa didn't want it known yet she was dating him until she was ready to share it. He was giving the info to Marge etc.
