He’s just saying the Celtics see importance in the regular season unlike some teams. Doesn’t mean he doesn’t recognize the stakes are higher in the playoffs.

Tatum had a pretty wobbly offensive series, but he showed All-NBA defensive four out of five games - pretty perfect balance between handling his responsibilities and showing out for help defense, then stepping up in crucial moments to do more. Really, earnestly impressive stuff.

Did you not see miamis entire gameplan was to not let tatum beat them and constantly loading up on him? Young JT would have forced his shot to try and get himself going. But he realizes picking the defense apart with hockey assist is exactly what we need him to do. His big games will come as teams figure out they cannot guard this team the way they used to.

100 percent right..but, the heat usually do limit JT in different ways though . But he was still defending his ass off, was on the boards , he was getting down hill and spraying it out quick to the shooters. And his first career triple double . Superstars don’t have to fill the stat sheet , for them to actually be called “ superstars”. Stats sometimes just don’t tell the whole truth, of how a player really impacted the game . And you’re right his balance was perfect. Not trying to do too much.

@@Bemisaki77 I mean, yeah, I think that's a lot to do with why he had a wobbly offensive series. He also got a little weird with DWhite going off. I hope we dont see too many big games, bc those are usually close, and we tend to lose those, bc he's bad when it's close - if he keeps playing point forward, and accepting working the hinge, C's are going to be basically impossible to stop.

@@JT_for_Three Yeah, the Heat are a particularly tough match for Tatum - they foul constantly, and Tatum tends to lose his cool when he's not getting his calls. I was impressed that he managed to keep it together as well as he did, certainly as compared to a younger JT.

@@Bemisaki77 Right, we don't have Smart anymore, not even Grant/Rob, but I like that JT and Jaylen played their cards right against Miami, and when they went zone defense, it didn't work because we have guys who can shoot the ball well Once Derrick got going Spo couldn't even find a solution to stop him. Last year, Zone defense worked because Marcus and Grant were not good shooters, and Bam could roam on defense because Rob was a lob threat. Even Tatum said before the series he wanted Miami so that way he could get that off his chest, and he did; now he feels relieved and is ready for the semifinals

Tatum had an efficient series. He’s not always going to be the top scorer - he just has to make the right reads, whether thats scoring, passing, boxing out, or defense. I would imagine he would play more offensively this next round.

yes Miami was just swarming him and Jaylen to prevent them from trying to winning and that led to Derrick White cooking and Spo didn't even make adjustments to contain Derrick

I love his idea that it’s the playoffs is no different regular season. Mastermind mindset. Conquer the regular season conquer the playoffs.

Right and even the in season tourney next year. Would be incredibly dominant to win all phases. In season the least important by far but can be looked at as nbas triple crown

To the casual type of fan I understand how some see it that way. But the attention he was given by the Heat, he made the right passes, plays and his defense was superb. He did exactly what he needed to do. It was a great series for him.

yea sure coach. no he doesn’t he’s playing perfectly. game two when tatum and brown tried to be better and handle the ball more we lost. this is a team sport. any championship team shares the wealth. denver. the 08 celtics. every championship team. no winning team has one player controlling anything. tatum may not have had the points but he had a triple double game one. his defense and playmaking have been phenomenal and when he had great shots he took them. white took control game 4&5 why would tatum disrupt that. it’s a team sport and they will not win unless they keep it team play. he’s been great. every team thinks he’ll be the one on ball at all times and that’s the perfect situation to trust and set the rest of the team up

Joe is such a dummy. Even his players don’t buy this narrative that the playoffs is the same as the regular season. This is so ridiculous.
