I like Maye, don't get me wrong, but Joe looks more like an NFL QB and has played in the hardest conference in college football. The SEC. I'm not sure there is a scenario in which Maye would have been up on Bama 20-7 at Bama under a Saban coached team. From an eye test, Joe throws harder, faster, longer and there wasn't a throw Maye made that Joe hasn't. Plus, he's nearly 240lbs and Maye looks maybe 200 ringing wet. Don't get me wrong, Maye is elite but Joe the defenses Maye saw vs what Joe saw is..vastly different. Both will be great for NE!
@owensnyder12926 ай бұрын
I agree, Milton has a cannon and can learn to read defensives better with hard work and practice. Could be an absolute steal in this draft and compete with Maye. But Maye isnt as small as you said. He's a bruiser too , 6'4 230lbs.
@gwhite71366 ай бұрын
@@owensnyder1292 NO way that guy is 230 lol. He looks smaller than NIco at TN and Nico is 215. YOu can tell if he was that saize, Maye isn't strong enough to run through tackles. Or maybe his running ability is so not there, it just makes him look smaller. Plus, doesn't look 6'4 either. Again, all could be based on little running ability. All speculation but Maye isn't in the same league as physicality as Joe. Who saw SEC D's. Both are good passers but Joe throws a better ball based on tight, effort, and with his run ability? Just looks more complete than what Maye does. Again, know Joe well and I do understand Joe's only started one full season of football. I think that he ended up higher ranked in the SEC at QB than Jalyn Milroe says something about him. May the best man win though.
@gwhite71366 ай бұрын
@@moheganson I'd have guess at least 10lbs less than that. Maybe most of his weight is in his legs? Not sure but looks a good 30lbs lighter than Milton. Camp will be very interesting. If there is a clear cut advantage Drake has over Joe, I haven't seen it yet. Joe can hit anywhere on the field even beyond 80 yards. Runs 21 mph, as clocked in a few games. Runs through tackles, doesn't turn the ball over much. Drake hasn't made a throw Joe hasn't or couldn't. Plus, I like that he played against the best defenses in the country in the SEC. And he's only started one full season as a starter and still beat out Jalyn Mirloe in the final SEC QB rankings. I think both are fine QB's, one just looks more like an NFL QB than the other, as far as physicality. Whomever wins the battle though, as both will have to earn their QB positioning, will be fun to watch. The NE offense for sure will be easier for Joe than the Temp Spread TN ran with him.

I hope you are right. But the chances for Milton are close to zero. He will be used as another camp arm, cut after his first 2 Int pre season game with a very very bad supporting cast (which happens to almost all rookies), then parked at various practise squads before being ousted from the NFL. What a waste of an all time talent. Maye otoh will get 1.000 chances before being cut, even if it goes as awful as Mac Jones or that guy in CAR. Its always the same with pampered 1st rounders, while low rounders are thrown into the QB camp lottery... Milton was doomed the second scouts predetermined him as a low round pick. He had no chance from the start. Needless to say, Milton is the best ever raw QB talent I have seen in 40+ years of QB play. To say it mildly: Scouts "rating" him are wrong, dead wrong. College stats are useless, its still a team sport (support). Wonderlics, and 40 dashes are useless too. All that matters is skill/talent/accuracy/arm strength (Milton got some extra spice in speed and size). The rest (reading defenses, making the right calls, anticipation) comes with training, good coaching and experience. He´ll get none of that. Sad story, since we will never enjoy this amazing QB in the NFL.

@@ButchBrown7 I understood what you meant as a white guy. Milton is explosive, athletic, and an all around solid quarterback. The patriots franchise has only had stiff lanky QBs for the last few years(minus Cam Newton but he was physically done). I think if Maye struggles, Milton will be on his behind to compete for a potential starting role. Training camp will show who’s more prepared for the season and luckily, we now have more than one QB style at our disposal. Going from Mac Jones and Zappe to Maye, Brissett, Milton, is a huge upgrade. We’re coming for the league!

@@JustanotherAccount6284 so what in Maye do you see that is unbeatable. He makes poor decisions at times with wide open receivers. Runs out of the pocket too quickly. And does not hit players at a NFL level in terms of defensive cushioning.
@JustanotherAccount62846 ай бұрын
@@WillyVanilly11 what you just described can be fixed within a few months of working with a good QB coach, what Drake has is natural anticipation & processing skills that some 24/25/26 year old QB’s starting in the league don’t even possess & he’s only 21! There’s a reason he was ranked as the “most NFL ready QB from the jump” because outside of his footwork, he has HOF potential, there’s two paths for Drake unlike most QB’s (because of skill set) he’s either a HOF caliber player or it doesn’t work, there’s no in between like everybody else that’s how good he is, please watch some analysis, cause there’s no way you can watch Drake & not see “why” he was a #3 pick unless you don’t know football or just haven’t watched film

Drake is small, that guy looks 195 tops and isn't going to be a QB that can be any threat running through tackles. Can't throw as hard or as far as Joe and there is no throw Drake has thrown that Joe hasn't and harder. Even at Joe's worst, he still made plays and against much more talented defenses than anything you'll find in the ACC.

@@pedrohippocaus8488 Ok, fair point but let's look at some facts here. Drake played in the ACC and went 8-4 and look at the teams he lost to. Joe went 8-4 and look at the teams he lost to. By far, Joe played against far better defenses. Drake is going to have way more yards passing but has no leg threat or much of one. Can't hold a candle to Joe's physi8cal advantages. Throws, harder, longer, longer more accurate and came make every throw Drake has and did. Can you imagine Drake having Bama down 20-7 at Bama, a team under Saban? No one has done that except for Joe. Joe was 68%, not bad. He didn't throw as much as Hooker because with the number one rushing offense in the SEC, why would you? Only had 5 INT'.s Joe has run over defenders, Drake at 190 looks like a Freshman size college QB and won't be able to use any physical advantage to break tackles. Drake woud not have started at TN imo. No run threat that's legit. How would have faired against to 5 passing D's? We don't know, he's never played one. Not saying Drake isn't good. He is but in no way does this guy look like a #3 overall pick when he has few NFL physical skills. I also been a Vols fan for over 40 years. Drake to me, looks like a future first year Kenny Pickett. Joe, looks no worse than a Jalen Hurts but a better passer.
