Joe On Location | Berlin & Potsdam Transport 2024

Hello and welcome to a trial of a new series, Joe On Location!
Well everybody who has been following my channel for any amount of time will know I'm a huge fan of the city of Berlin, so when we took our most recent trip there in April 2024, I had the idea of recording some of it to share with you guys!
We'll be sharing some of the footage from Berlin (and of course the neighboring city of Potsdam in the South West). There's such a plethora of buses, trams and trains to be explored, and many of the areas we've already visited together in OMSI or "The Bus".
Okay, so the sound could be a tad better, blame the cameraman for forgetting the microphones that clip to my t-shirt, if you guys like it and want to see more we won't forget them next time!

Great video as always - I happened to be visiting Berlin near the end of last year, around 2 weeks before the withdrawal of the old class 485 s-bahn trains, and with a day spare I found some real hidden transport gems in the eastern suburbs - for example, the Berlin trams have some lines which extend all the way from the city to some suburban towns like Rahnsdorf with some fast interurban running through the woods and along the lakes. Not only that, but a rather more well known tram is the one that links Rahnsdorf S Bahn station with the town of Woltersdorf, which still uses 1950s Gotha tramcars (albeit not for much longer) which get some real thrash on the section through the woods and terminate on the lakeside next to a lovely lifting bridge. Would highly recommend, and there’s lots more around there to discover besides.

I loved those 485 sets, the Toasters won’t be long for the chop now with the Stadler units coming thick and fast. Aye we’ve done the Woltersdorf tram, what a little gem that is! I somehow managed to get us a look round the depot with my pigeon German haha, an absolute treat. Did you know you can hire the old trams out for weddings?

Ah yes, by that point the 485s were only running on the S85 so I sat around in the rain at Schöneweide for 45 minutes to try and bag a ride on one. Worth it though! The first of the replacement trams for Woltersdorf arrived a couple of weeks ago for testing, but as I understand it they’re going to retain the old ones as well. Good thing too, a wedding on a tram would be ace! When I was there I got a cheeky brief look around of the depot on my own accord as no one was about and it was open. Next on my Berlin list are probably the overhead electric ferry across the Straussee, and the new branch line that was opened last year, purely serving the purpose of linking Erkner with the huge Tesla factory to the south (which gives me real vibes of the old Sinfin branch in Derby if anyone remembers that).

Thank you for bringing us with you to the best city in the welt. How I’m looking forward to July. Me and my BFF will roadtrip to Normandie and from there visit Sinsheim (Technik Museum with Concorde), Stuttgart and ofc Berlin. Think we will spend 6.000 km in the bloody Tesla this summer holiday😂😊

Next time you're in Berlin, I can highly recommend a trip to Steglitz-Zehlendorf. It's a very beautiful district in the southwest of Berlin and has a nice (but not too big) selection of buses, you can especially see a lot of enviro 500 there. Particularly beautiful is the Rhathaus Steglitz, a nice shopping area with many shopping centers and lots of bus traffic. There is also an “indoor” bus hub at Rathaus-Steglitz which is great for spotting and taking photos. There is also a U-Bahn and S-Bahn line that leads there. I can't wait to see the next Berlin video!💛

That was cool! Fun fact, Australia has the Bombardier Flexity trams on the Gold Coast, as well as the Siemens Combino trams in Melbourne. With different styles and liveries of course, but I can see the similarities between them

Enjoyed the video, interesting to see the direct comparison between sim and real life. I was surprised to see how accurate the sim scenery is they just need to dial back the colour contrast - especially the trees. More videos like this please when you are on your travels next

Superb Video Joe.. I've had a few trips to Munich doing nothing but Transport filming both at Munchen Hbf and Munchen Ost.... I don't know what I enjoyed more, the Transport or the decent selection of Coffee and Eateries.. though one of the food places stood out... "HaferKater" (situated downstairs at Munchen Ost).. I'm a keen Bayern fan so travel to Bavaria quite a bit.. Have u been to Munchen Yourself?

The London map is having an extension it's been some new looper circuit the 64s been extended the cup of things what I don't remember but the London map is being extended what's not luckily your favourite but hey and also you're not playing a lot of OMSI 2 you're not playing a lot I notice😊😊😊
