"i hope I'm not remembered at all, and that one day i can just disappear" this has such a sweet tone for me, I've been taught by my parents, media, strangers, coincidences, etc. that i needed to be the next inventor of the wheel for this world I've been ridden with anxiety, depression and hate from my 15 years of life up until i turned 23, just to come up with something original that needed to change the world and to be remembered by everyone, kinda like Steve Jobs and his iphones, everyone knows who he is and what he did But now i understand that for some reason i don't have to do that, and i can just pass away peacefully knowing that whatever i can do to the best of my abilities, is and should be enough for me, and maybe my enough is changing the world for the better, who knows.
@Anonymous-vy1py2 жыл бұрын
This is great to hear you've changed your worldview to one that works for you. I had a similar realisation: that most of my successful idols e.g. musicians got where they did not by saying "I'm going to be a successful musician" but instead by saying "I'm going to play music because I love it". I believe, in most cases though not all, that happiness leads to achievement - not the other way around. Sometimes though, people achieve because they have to escape hardship - i suppose that is not happiness per se but a motivator of a similar type... the determination and hope of escape, maybe...
@jackboyd-official32032 жыл бұрын
For so many years I played music, hoping to 'get' somewhere. It was a stressful and disappointing experience. When I gave up and decided I would just play because I enjoy it, because it was like dancing or yoga of a sort, because it calmed me and soothed my heart and body, and allowed me to channel and express my innermost feelings, I started to see that people began to notice. I 'got' nowhere with either approach, but I most certainly got exactly what I needed with the second: peace, and joy. Give up, lose hope, and witness the beauty in every little moment, sound, and sensation. That is the true triumph!
@Anonymous-vy1py2 жыл бұрын
@@jackboyd-official3203 awesome stuff Jonathon. I commend that! I suppose people need a bit of luck to make the big time as well - saying yes to the right thing at the right time... so we can't be too harsh on ourselves if we don't "make it". Sounds like you did indeed find the true triumph of music - expressing yourself is powerful and important, and paradoxically can lead to more powerful art compared to catering for your audience

I was watching this while I had insomnia. And I was just about to doze off, but I was suddenly awakened by a commercial for USAA insurance. I then realized that I didn't qualify for the incredible savings because I was never in the military. That made me kind of sad, like how Jim Kelly and the 1990-1993 Buffalo Bills must have felt after losing 4 super bowls in a row.

@@stevenpochejr Youre just all edge, arentcha?
@basedbattledroid35075 жыл бұрын
@@stevenpochejr honestly, safe is interesting, way too many shows and medai nowadays try to push the boundaries and they become predictable, seeing blood and gore and grit and sex isn't even half as effective it used to be, especially when everyone does it, there's hardly anything mature about mature content. And it's a shame because I still really like the extreme gorefests, before everyone copied them. 13 reasons why is a good example of the annoying ubiquity of edges in modern media, it tries to be a serious drama starting with topics like suicide; but plays out like it was written by a three year-old, one that's never even had some semblance of a real life experience with suicide or depression, it's an obnoxious show with no accuracy, intriguing characters or actual dramatic tension. The fact that so many edgy teenagers are still trying to copy the suicide rituals from it is annoying and upsetting, especially because I've struggled with suicide attempts and depression for the brunt of my life, the show just glamorizes suicide and all these kids don't realize how unglamorous it is, like how you shit yourself when you die and how permanent it is, I only wanted to take my life because I was going through a lot of pain, I couldn't get bad memories out of my head and I didn't think it would end, while they're threatening suicide because they have some solipsistic fantasy about their pretty and extravagant funeral and they're gonna be the star of their own 13 reasons why and all the "nobody understands me" crap. They're just sheltered. I mean, my only advice is; if you have loved ones like friends, family member or a pet; stay around for them, don't take your life because then your pain becomes theirs, tenfold, if you love and care about someone and you want them to have a happy life; that isn't going to happen if you're not in it. Maybe it's not even a person, sometimes I've just put if off because I had to finish work on a personal project and I just focused on that, or there was something good on TV. So many shows nowadays are just jacking off on gore and forced grittiness, they all copy each other and become boring and not unique, but Joe Pera is great, he's like the Koyaanisqatsi of comedy, I wish there were more acts like him. I mean, if I'm a pussy for liking this; then I love being a pussy.

This show carries the same energy as hanging with an old relative, someone you haven't seen in years. Someone that you saw for years growing up, but maybe don't hear from as much now that you're older. The chill conversations, the calm demeanor, everything, just feels like you're listening to an old friend talk about something they care about. It's peaceful. Not only does it help me make peace with the world, it helps me make peace with myself. The world feels good when I watch this show. It's calm, and it takes me away from the hectic life that I live 24/7. It's like I'm relaxing by a campfire talking to friends that care about me. Joe Pera is a treasure, the same way that Mr Rogers was a treasure to all of his viewers when we were kids. Joe has taken Mr Roger's work and adapted it to adults. This is what I want out of TV. This is what I want to watch every single night.
