If you pay attention, he says fighters are not a consistent source of money for promoters or networks. Fighters are very hard to tie down to specific promotions. One day they’re fighting for golden boy, the next they’re fighting for pbc or dazn. Promoters are getting fighters paid, but when boxers get more understanding of the business side, because of the expenses they occurred when they got paid, they decide to demand more. Which causes them to move around. Why would showtime and HBO get in a contract with golden boy or pbc, when they cant guarantee the money making fighters are going to be fighting their network. This is why he mentions fighters having to pay to fight. Because they have to pay networks to fight on other networks that they were not contracted with.

PPV is hurting boxing now utubers are PPV starts and PPV Exhibitions from retired fighters instead for the best fighting the best in boxing. One thing about the UFC I like is the fighters fight the top rank fighters meaning #1 fights #2 boxing don't do that as much the fighter has to have more of a social media then skills.

Boxing is more of a business now. Those guys who fought back in the day retired, developed all types of brain issues and died broke. 90% of the people in the boxing hall of fame were/are broke. The idea now is to fight 1 or 2 times a year, make as much money as possible and preserve your health.

Boxing lost me when it focused itself on publicity stunts for social media stars, KZbinrs and MMA fighters and not holding itself to a true, legitimate sport that organized fights based on rankings and wins within those rankings. Jake Paul and Connor M may indeed have great personalities - but a Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson or Marvin Hagler they are surely not.

PBC is the reason why HBO Boxing no longer exist. PBC tried to monopolize boxing by acquiring boxers from different promotion companies under one umbrella, Showtime/FOX/PBC. Problem was PBC underestimated the overall power of the other promotion companies. The other promotion companies partnered with other networks to counter what PBC was attempting to do. Top Rank/ESPN, Golden Boy Promotion & Matchroom Promotion/DAZN. This caused boxing to implode, this is why the best don’t fight the best anymore on a frequent basis. These promotion companies refuse to work with each other because the networks have them and the fighters bound to these network contracts. Now Showtime Boxing is latest domino to fall because PBC can’t put together enough fight cards to fill in viewing slots, plus the PPV numbers have ben lackluster. Boxing needs a major change fast or else it may never recover.

He knew dang well that back in 2004 Felix Sturm beat Oscar De La Hoya, BUT since they all wanted to make money; Oscar was gifted a bogus decision! Then because of Oscar "winning" the fight, Oscar was given a fight with Bernard Hopkins instead of the rightful fighter: Felix Sturm. Did B-Hop complaint? Nope. Did B-Hop say anything about the injustice destroying boxing? Nope. B-Hop went in and fought De La Hoya, everybody got paid and De La Hoya gave up with a bogus body shot by B-Hop. Was a terrible fight and it showed how De La Hoya had no business at 160 lbs. But since it was all about the money, B-Hop never even batted an eyelash about the ordeal. As someone who has managed Fighters and promoted fights, the real reason why boxing is dying on cable is because the boxing Revenue model is too dependent on fees from the networks. There are no additional revenue streams like nfl, mlb, in nhl, where the athletes are getting a cut of merchandising deals. In boxing everything is dependent on site fees and network fees and it's just too expensive
