Yes you have to throw yourself in the direction your wrist is being turned to or you will break your wrist . The idea of rolling out of the technique is to save yourself from broken shoulders wrists etc That’s why I’m aikido you look like you’re just falling over . But you are avoiding injury in the Steven sea gal aikido . The guy Asian who gets kit into the floor was a student if his . He falls backwards to avoid the full thrust of the iriminage neck hit. So Seagaks aikido is brutal I took it fir 6 years . The shit hurts if you don’t roll out or fall correctly.
@farlonmuentes60043 жыл бұрын
@@carlreynolds1111 so in short, aikido doesn't have any practical use whatsoever coz no one would charge someone at a street brawl like that. even someone who doesn't know how to fight doesn't throw his whole body for an attack. in real life, you can't catch someone hands even if they are just flailing around. aikido is so choreographed that there is no real spar while on other martial arts like taekwondo, a newbie could lose a tooth just from sparring.
@foilhattiest13 жыл бұрын
@@farlonmuentes6004 You're very right about how unrealistic the running attacks are. Now you could of course apply most wrist techniques against an opponent who's standing still as well, they don't have to be running, but again your other point is also valid that it's still very hard to grab someones wrist exactly right in a real brawl. I wouldn't however say that these sorts of techniques have no practical use whatsoever. I actually think they're pretty good techniques for women to learn for "escape and run away" type self defense, because a lot of men are a lot more likely to grab a woman to try to control her than just punch her out, so a lot of the "breaking free from holds" type techniques makes more sense for women to learn I think. But for a man who wants to learn how to fight, yeah might as well just skip aikido completely :)

It's both. I'm not saying Aikido is some great, practical defense in street fights, but they're in a class. And they are doing/practicing EXACTLY what you're saying. The person in the middle (SS) is attempting to quickly interpret, react and employ an Aikido response to each attacker (who should be doing different things), while the people coming at him are practicing breakfalls and movements that would normally be used to avoid having an arm/wrist broken, were the move employed full-force/full-speed. It's not meant to be 5 people trying to take people down as fast as they can, or to simulate a real-world street fight, like many people seem to believe. Still though at one point in order to further his career the dude set out to meet Kelly LeBrock, who every young guy wanted at the time after that Weird Science movie. He was heavily balding but got a hair transplant in the 90s but since the technology behind them wasnt so great back then, his hairline still ended up looking very thin and unnatural. So he started using hair loss concealer to fix his hairline, which actually can help make receding hairlines look a lot better when used in moderation. Seagal just uses way too much of it and it makes his hairline look totally ridiculous. Yeah I researched this. The dude's hair was just so fucked up that I couldnt help but be curious

@Fightingat403 жыл бұрын
Aikido is aimed to be much more about mental conditioning and understanding how to use your balance and weight against an opponent. Someone who can truly grasp the overall concept and then mix it with other more practical martial arts has an advantage. Aikido on it's own is not very combat efficient, which you learn kind of early, as the whole mantra behind it is to avoid conflict if possible. But to say it is useless is like saying those boxing classes that focused on footwork were a waste of time. It is definitely not for people who want to learn to " fight ". But if you want to know how to avoid the fight in the first place it's a good martial art.
@fanman713 жыл бұрын

As long as I'm entertained I dont really care how eccentric or stupid some of these actors are in real life. Growing up as a kid, I loved Steven Seagal movies becuase they were so violent and completely against the norm of most martial arts movies. Almost all Martial arts movies at the time the good guy gets beat up, basically has a Goku Super Saiyan moment, and then beats the bad guy. Steven Seagal was my generation's One Punch Man. He never got beat up, didnt even get scratched. Just brutally stomped everyone he faced, and that really set those movies apart for me as a kid. It was really an excellent shtick looking back on it.
