I'm a Falconer living in Florida. On my way to hunt with my hawk in rural Collier County I saw a momma panther and two cubs. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed. We need to protect them. Developers are encroaching on their land. Collier County see's their fair share of fatal panther vehicle strikes. It is very sad.

I’ve heard many sighting here in South Carolina. I’ve lived mostly in the Pee Dee region and while I’ve never seen one, I’ve casted tracks and have heard numerous stories that seem legitimate. I don’t think the eastern mountain lion ever went extinct, there are small populations that exist on the east coast.

Lived in Florida my whole life. Im 43. I've seen 1 in the wild , in my 43 years. In a small town in North Florida called telogia. Driving to work. 6:30 am. Deer shoots across the road in front of me. Running wide open. Less than a half of a second a later a huge black cat , right on the deers heels. His head was at the center line in the road, his tail was on the white line on the side of the road. This thing was big. I mean real big and moving just as fast as that deer was. From that day on, I try to stay indoors after dark.

My brother and I saw a black panther in North Ft. Myers Florida in 1981. We were six feet away; We were at a friends trailer in a trailer park. We left around 11p.m., opened his door to go home and there it was, lapping up milk he had out for his cat. Its eyes shone green in by the porch light and it's body was all black. It shot off like a silent shadow into a nearby cowfield. I guess it must've been a black jaguar...? Another time, a regular ol' Florida panther was eating our garbage when we lived at another house. I didn't see it but my brothers did when they went outside.

I could be wrong but I thought I heard of in the south, particularly in the south west, a species of what they’re calling the American leopard, it possibly has made its way up from central or South America and it sounds like it’s similar to the African leopard. I saw one in Morgan county 10 years ago. It was the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in the wild. My buddies who were walking deer towards me and this was real near their chicken houses that covered my sent, they spooked it off and it went silently into the woods. Three people saw the tracks. Huge tracks in wet sand. The fact I hear I couldn’t have saw what I saw is insulting. I was afraid to move as I was just leaning on a tree and I was afraid I would get in trouble by the game warden if I shot it but I didn’t shoot it because it had me hypnotized more or less and then it was gone. And yes it looked like your classic jaguars but completely pure black. Long thick tail. Long body and a huge head. A killer if it wants to be. I’m not ruling out black panther because this Florida panthers pretty thick but that tail and long low body looked pretty jaguar like. I think we have a rare type of jaguar different from the only ones they claim exist in the US in Texas only coming in the rare black color Central American and Texas type can be but again rarely.

They are eating hogs. Know a couple that got a home out on state road 29 north of S.R. 84 to go hunting. The dang mental environmentalists imported mountain lions from Western US to breed with Florida Panthers. They see a lot on their property and never see hogs or other animals they wanted to hunt. Panthers or Pythons eating all the other mammals. They have had Panthers or Mountain lion mix near them in the gravel drive. Old Cracker they bought the house from would shoot critters right off the porch. They finally figured out why there were holes in the screens.

Florida, South Florida in particular, is the central clearing house for invasive species on land, air, and sea. Put your line in a canal in South Florida and you never know what will be on the other end. I have personally caught nine fish species that are South American natives. Those fish can't survive anywhere else in the U.S. except for the tropical climate of South Florida. Same for many invasive snakes and lizards that come from our southern neighbors. Nile monitor lizards from Africa, Tegus from South America, and hundreds of other fish, snakes, lizards, birds, plants, insects, spiders...they are everywhere down here. It's a damn ecological GTA server.
