Such a weird narrative when Alex only has a slightly larger frame than Izzy, they're the same height and Alex actually has a shorter reach. Everyone acts like he size bullied Izzy while Izzy's stood a head over everyone else at middweight fighting outside their range his whole career. If anything it's just another example of a very long fighter for a division struggling when finally facing someone of equal size
@CrimsonZboss
@CrimsonZboss Жыл бұрын
😂 bro really said equal size. I can’t. You see Alex’s fight weight? Mf weighed more at MW than Jan fought Izzy at in LHW. He weighed 30-35 lbs over the fight weight on fight night. He has a MUCH larger frame than Izzy, looks taller than him, is significantly more built, and weighs significantly more… Izzy’s only advantage is reach here.
@CrimsonZboss
@CrimsonZboss Жыл бұрын
I don’t think I saw a fight where Izzy weighed 15 lbs more than his opponent, ever. Izzy also fought Jan at 190 I am pretty sure.
@rollo8459
@rollo8459 Жыл бұрын
@@CrimsonZboss Jan said he usually weighs 220 in the cage and Alex rehydrates around 25 pounds so no he wasn't heavier than Jan. UFC stats list Izzy and Alex as the same height, Alex just sits taller in his stance. Izzy's previous MW opponents stood on average 4 inches shorter with significantly shorter reaches at 3.5 less for Cannonier, 6 for Marvin, 7 for Whittaker and Romero, 8 for Costa and 8.5 for Gastelum. Pereira is obviously the most equivalent fighter Izzy's faced at MW in terms of physicality and he didn't beat him because he was heavier, he beat him because he's better.

I transitioned from boxing to mma several months ago and when Masvidal mentioned grappling being so draining if you haven’t done it for a long time and he’s absolutely right.. striking and grappling are two totally different animals when it comes to cardio and both are uniquely draining.. and if you haven’t trained one or the other significantly youre gunna get exhausted.. a wrestler could be in great shape but if he’s never boxed he’s gunna get exhausted and vice versa with a boxer like me doing wrestling.. I was in great shape but it was a totally different type of cardio.. and wrestlers are Friggin insane.. @@nolifedmyaway grapplers need to take a flying knee to the skull next time they go for takedowns such a gay fighting style i wish it was enitrely separate. that aside theyre gonna have to also be able to stand and fight in the octagon as well as be able to get through his defense to take him down. both enough factors that he's made hard enough on their own to challenge any "grappler"

@@ephesus7158 Grappling is only gay if those mofos want to lay and pray all day long. But guys that remain active, looking to bamboozle and overwhelm the opposition are super dangerous. Remember the pressure Cain Velasquez used to apply, dude was scary in his prime and his ground and pound was relentless. Plus don't forget all the great submission artists, even that one crazy dude that never liked to let go of heel hooks and maimed a bunch of fighters before he was released from the UFC.

I think everyone is making too much of how the first round ended. Adesanya landed the right clean but the left hook was clearly after the bell and it was as damaging as the right.

Izzy had him in the first round and could have been a different outcome. Also Alex size advantage was obvious in the match when it went to the mat. Overall I think Izzy was brave taking the match where he could have dodge it.

people talking about 10 more or 2 more secounds and he would have lost...... we have seen many people doing the stankyleg and still recovering. clinch, takedown, izzy trowing headkick and falling on his ass. there are many ways alex would have recovered from that.

Alex kept stalking Izzy, I was more worried for Adesanya than Pereira. There is so much danger when the throws that hook. Just seeing it already feels endangering. I've seen Pereira fight in Glory live a few times. It is not normal how tall and sturdy that man is, i felt sorry for the opponent. It was Pereira vs Ertugrul Bayrak. Truthfully, Pereira will probably win a second time and also be a menace in the LHW division

Pereira has no ground game. His thai boxing has served him well so far, but he's far from being a complete well rounded fighter. It's interesting though to see that a fighter can be sucessful without ground skills. Let's see how long it lasts. I hope a long time. I like him.
