Gender is used to just discuss social components too though, but it does include grey areas where we can't really say for sure whether some aspects of behaviour are influenced by the genetics (i.e. including sex) or influenced by external stimuli, although we are getting better and better at distinguishing the two influencers. Most use gender and sex to be the same thing, which is what Debra Soh does. But others, for example, classical feminists use gender to just mean characteristics pertaining to masculinity and femininity, whereas they use sex to mean characteristics of being male or female. I think the distinction can be valuable because there are many arbitrary behaviours or interests that we socially engineer to be gendered to a ridiculous low resolution abstraction which does influence our culture and behaviours in limiting and even harmful ways; e.g. girls like pink and dolls and boys like blue and trucks. Even though we can see some sex differences already in infants, it does take until puberty until we can see any meaningful differences between the sexes. These sex differences also tend to reach their height form puberty until age 35-50, and then decrease further as we age. There are obviously permanent effects of the differences, but there is also a lot of variability within one sex class, and perhaps more similarities than there are differences between the sexes.

Listen.. I don't want to be mean or prejudice and am cool with calling a male to female transgender miss so long as this person is respectful and not in your face. Why not make people happy but...... Let's not get stupid here.. A male to female transgender IS SILL A GUY!!! With or without a cock! To telle that I am discriminatory against a trans woman is a false premise.. I am not.. I am simply a heterosexual male and NOT attracted to other men whether they wear makeup or not, have a penis or a surgicaly contructed hole that is supposed to act as a vagina. It is NOT a vagina. It does not moisten by itself, it does not metruate nor can it ever conceive... Walking on 4 foot stilts does not make a short man tall.. It just makes him a short man looking down at you because he is on stilts.. I'm OK with men who want to leave be as women but be f*cking calling me no prejudice because I won't date one. If that is the attitude they can go f*ck themselves because they are exploiting the tolerance and acceptance that society betows upon them simply because they won't take their fantasies to another level. People will humour them but don't ask them to not call a spade a spade.. If a man should have a sexual encounter with a Trans woman, by all means and purposes, it would have been a homosexual encounter, case closed.. You can ask people to play along and be respectful but don't expect them to to go all the way with what is essentially a delusion..

So she is a neuroscientist, and also has her own podcast so she has interviewing experience. To echo what everyone else seems to have said: it's absolutely crazy how much Joe talked during this episode. Usually he's really good about asking thoughtful questions and getting a guest to really go to work on their subject, but this time... holy shit! Joe said about 30 words for every 1 of Dr. Soh's. I really wanted to hear more from her, she's really interesting. Maybe next time. Ha.

@Joe Rogan. I know there's an incredibly slim chance that you'll ever see this, but I'm going to say it regardless. This is by far one of my favorite podcasts of yours regarding trans people. I've watched 99% of your podcasts over the years, and I have to say, I agree with all your views regarding transgender women. Combat sports, and everything else. I'm a trans woman, and I'd would never support a trans woman fighting cis women unbeknownst to those cis women being aware that the trans woman was born in a male body. I also love that you love that we exist, you fucking rock, Joe!

@amanojin33385 жыл бұрын
@@Megaman2ooo that is an argument unto itself. I get how you feel but as with literally everything based on emotions, not everyone feels the same. To take a famous example some people would be OK just straight up categorising caitlyn jenner as a female, exactly the same as Jennifer Lopez. However Jennifer Lopez was born female and feels like one, so she's "cis"gender. Caitlyn was born Bruce jenner, a biological man who identified as a female. A "trans" sexual female. Some "cis"gender men are "transvestites" or "cross dressers" who like wearing women's clothing and make up but are sexually attracted to (for arguments sake) "cis" females. To tar all these people with the female brush makes sense on the surface but as a cis male myself, I'm only attracted to cis females, some people are attracted to all of these ideas of "female". Details are important to the individuals involved. But yea I agree that it's very complicated and new terms are coming into play all the time, I could go on but the podcast is full of interesting info on it 👍🏾

Being a serious academic has nothing to do with not being able to progress a conversation, if anything it improves one's conversational abilities due to having the knowledge to discuss topics in-depth without prodding. slados1 He should take a lesson from Larry King, someone who actually lets his guests speak. I think everyone knows exactly what Joe thinks about any particular topic, his specific interests, THE DMT etc. It gets old constantly hearing his personal opinions on everything rather then letting his guests do most of the talking. Granted, they're not always as bad as this one but for fucks sake man, prepare some better questions for your interviews. There is so much more knowledge we could have gotten from this specialist if Joe was able to coax it out of her like a good interviewer should be able to, instead of just filling airtime with his voice, just talking out of his ass.

The "infectivity" of #transgender is very interesting statistically, but gender is social construct, so of course it's mutable in part by social feedback. The ideology of both left & right is confused, and it leaves no room for "butch" women to stay women, or drag queens with robust hetero sex lives, or any other "mismatch" of gender roles and sex organs. There's more than two parts in this play, and more acts than pole meets hole.

Joe rogan is an exemplary interviewer and I'm truly grateful for JRE. But this episode he didn't shut up at all. I listened to 80% of it and have no idea who or what this woman does...damn son

ChuckOriley wierd. I understood that she was a neurologist that specialized in sex within the first few minutes. Sounds like you have a comprehension problem my man.

ChuckOriley maybe you could simply google her name? Learn things by reading information yourself.

Chuck your totally right. JoRo was full of his own shit in this cast. It is ego trippin, due to his popularity and fame of late. Needs to ground himself and respect such a subtle and sublime guest like Debra soh. I would love to ask her about all the things she has studyed. You hardly hear Jo ask her one question. Everything she says triggers his train of though that he feels so sure he wants to spout out and explain. He is lubed with alcohol i reckon and lacks the sensitivity to deal with this type of guest.

I think Joe was smitten... (A) WHO THE HELL WOULDN'T BE?! (B) Dudes talk a lot when they have a crush, and are tryin' to impress...

Grizzy 77, Nah i like JoRo, but don't wear rose tinted glasses, not meaning to insult him at all, just comment on the topic and the reason why i feel he wasted this opportunity to deal with this lovely lady. You can mistake critic with negativity all you want and try to insult me but i don't give a shit really. I'm not expecting Joe to check comments obviously, in the same way i don't think he needs people like you defending him. I'm more expressing my thoughts and seeing what others think. He spoke over 80 % of the time and asked minimal questions. Do you refute this observation?

Dang, I’m 47 minutes in and was hoping joe would ask some questions about Debras research and profession but so far he hasn’t asked her any questions
