This is the first ever podcast by Joe, I have ever heard and it was so good. I am a huge fan of Rick and his work. And I had the rare opportunity to meet him in person at a showing of Harry and The Hendersons at the Hollywood theater in Portland, OR sometime last year and it was a dream come true seeing Rick and getting to shake his hand. He is one of many masters of makeup effects and of art form that is sadly dying right before our eyes. And if you are a fan of Rick's definitely pay the price to pick up his two volume book Metamorphosis. It is well worth the price you pay and then some for a fan of Rick's. It even has pictures from his cancelled project Night Skies. Huge props to Joe though having Rick on his show and allowing Rick's wonderful stories to be recorded for prosperity and capturing his kindness and genuine love for making monsters.

Rick Baker and Rob bottin seriously made my childhood beyond magical. The amount of terror, fascination, curiosity, and utter joy that those men created in me from a very young age was unequalled when it came to movies. Being a kid in the 1980s when these fantastic creatures and beings were made it really made the movies that much better. I do not for the life of me understand how even today some of these visual affects get made. Every now and then a movie like dark city or the matrix or Aquaman comes along and the affects are spectacular, but for every one of those there is 50 jar jar Binks type creatures made in awful movies. And there have been some recent Rick Baker makeup affects that I thought were kinda bad too like men in Black and a few others that relied too much on the cgi instead of Rick's magic.
