DDL might be the best. Or maybe Brando. But IMHO, Pacino is the greatest. Pacino could so easily be typecast and unlike De Niro, every movie he really convinces you that he is not the last guy you saw him play, but he really is that character. And each character he plays is iconic and you feel a warm connection to. Whereas for the last 30 years or so, Robert De Niro has been playing Robert De Niro.

What’s great about Joe Rogan is that he is authentic, even or maybe especially, when he’s a dumbass! It’s what makes him compelling, he’s not trying to pretend to be something. He is who he is, no matter the situation. Saying that, one of my favorite Rogan podcasts is the one where Bill Burr pulls him apart for thinking he knows more than the covid scientists and doctors. Bill Burr is great at keeping people grounded.

I can't say who's best but in my opinion Robin Williams is the most versatile actor. In Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society and Patch Adams he was a psychologist, teacher and doctor. Aladdin he was the genie. In Hook, he was Peter Pan, he played Popeye in Popeye and Teddy Roosevelt in Night at the Museum. The same guy who was able to play an old woman in a comedy as Mrs. Doubtfire. Was a serial killer in Insomnia. He played a gay man, a radio host in veitnam and a boy stuck in a video game. Along with many other characters.
@matts.9330Ай бұрын
Only comment I would make on that is that each time it was still very obviously Robin Williams. Daniel Day Lewis melts into each part so ridiculously that he's able to suspend disbelief.

I really never thought that Williams was all that versatile. There was manic, ad libbing Robin or soft, sensitive Robin. I'm not saying he couldn't express anger, frustration or even menace, I just can't imagine him tackling most of the roles that DDL absolutely made his own through living like his character would, not through the coked-out ramblings that RW was so fond of indulging in, like the insufferable Good Morning, Vietnam. I will admit to never seeing any of the Suspense stuff RW did near the end *and* that he got on my nerves in some films so badly that it unfairly carried over to others.
