Volks team are just using him as a money maker for themselves. As soon as he accepted that short notice rematch it solidified the fact in my head. Islam also made the mistake of being dehydrated and fighting volk in australia where you get 12 less hours to recover from the weight cut. The difference is Islam fought volk in his home country Austria with Australian judges and he still beat him, 4-1 round for Islam. But when it was time for volk to go to Islam territory he got killed fast in side 2 minutes. Plus I remember in the rematch volk said he accepted the fight because he is always in the gym always training so there is no excuse. Out striked volk, landed the most memorable shots, out grappled him and touka him down in every round aside from the 5th, he also droped volk on one knee and wobbled him a few times.

I would say it’s more pride than money, Volk has got so many sponsors and collaborations outside of the ufc that he can make plenty of money without ever fighting again.
