Pretty much all of Mayweathers opponents were at the end of their careers even Gatti's. Gatti had already gone through multiple loss streaks when he fought Floyd.. Andre Berto, Marcos Maidana, Robert Guerrero, Judah all were at the end of their careers and with recent L's on their record. This fight was the begining of Mayweather's prime. He was amazing, but he's never fought a boxer that was young in their prime. You could argue Canelo was the only one that was impressive to me. Just saying. Mosley, Pacquiao.. All of Floyds opponents were past their prime except Canelo. He avoided young strong opponents.

One of Floyd’s best attributes is that he wants to entertain and he knows the business of boxing. He controlled and prolonged quite a few of his fights so that you get the notion that his opponent was better than they were. He knew Conor has a whole country behind him, and that can equal to a lot of money if he can convince the audience that their fighter has a chance. He wants you to get your money’s worth.
