When Sharkey's Machine was being filmed here in Atlanta, I was teaching karate for Joe Corley American Karate schools and Joe was promoting PKA Kickboxing. We had a card of championship fights scheduled and Burt Reynolds, Brian Keith and Bernie Casey were all sitting at ringside enjoying the fights.

Reynolds often said Deliverance was his best work and I would have to agree. Very haunting film. Breaking In from the late 80's is a really nice low key film.

The Longest Yard has to make the list. The chain gang fight, the receptionist who he asks about having spiders in her hair and breaking Richard Kiel's nose, all hilarious. Boogie Nights flies under the radar pretty often, if you knew the reference material it's hard to forget. He was even good as Avery Carrington in GTA Vice City.

@@fouronesix8294 I'm glad you said "one of", there's so many good movies to choose from. It's way harder to think of bad Burt Reynolds roles. Phenomenal actor, RIP. I truly believe the 70's and 80's were cinema's halcyon, in the same way the 60's and 70's were for music. The full on comedies back then are so good, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Gene Wilder, John Candy, to name a few that had me repeatedly crying with laughter. The quantity and quality of originality during that era may never be surpassed.

The movie with the smoke tower was not Stroker Ace, it was Hooper. And I have studdied that shot frame by frame and it was edited and rotoscoped to time it so there was no delay after the car drove past and the tower fell. But yes they did drive past the tower, but not that perfect of timing.

Deliverance is a great movie. It has several memorable scenes, takes you by surprise AND has intelligence mixed in. "Smokey and the Bandit" however is... Not. Not in my book anyway. I bought the movie and had a hard time looking it all through. I had already bought the second one but did trade it at a movie-store. No chance I would waste my time on a movie that is even worste! I am not saying anyone can't love that movie. Love it all you want but I am just warning some who might think as I do.
