Silencers do not make you a stealthy assassin capable of clearing a room without anyone else knowing; that's entirely a movie thing. Silencers make your gunshots go from ripping your eardrums apart, to being uncomfortably loud. A gunshot with a silencer is still around 100 dB, which is comparable to a Boeing aeroplane during takeoff. Ear protection is still required to shoot a gun with a silencer at a gun range, which I think makes the point rather clear.

With a 30 shot magazine, she can afford to take guess shots through doors and simply take shots that may only have a 30% chance of hitting the target. With only a 10 round magazine, she has to wait until a face to face confrontation occurs, which is very dangerous. The luxury of being able to fire sooner, without being overly concerned about preserving ammo, increases the chances of the intruders aborting their mission before they successfully break inside. It also increases her chances of taking them all down if they refuse to quit. Even people who train miss shots under high stress. When someone says gun show loophole, it's proof they have never been to a gun show. Any Federal Firearms License(FFL) must run a background check, wherever they sell a firearm. Gun show or store front. Private sales generally do not require such a background check. There can be a private sale at a gun show. Pass a law saying there can't and all they would have to do is cross the street and make the deal and it would still be legal.
@Branniganslaw1437 жыл бұрын
That is why some people want all gun sales, be it public or private to require a background check. Want to sell your hand gun? Fine. Seller and buyer go down to the local police station and have them do a background check.
@savageone47867 жыл бұрын
The problem, we people of the gun have, with this is that it is never confined to "sales", it is always defined as "transfers". If I want to loan my nephew a firearm to go deer hunting, that is a transfer and under Universal Background Checks, requires that we go and have a background check. If I want to loan a gun to my Aunt, who is being stalked by an unstable coworker for a month or two, that requires a transfer. A guy wants to pass on his gun collection to his sons, that requires a background check(for each individual firearm). Also, police don't do background checks, FFLs do and they generally charge $25-50 per check. That would mean 2 background checks in the scenario with the Aunt I mentioned. One when I loaned it and one when she returns it. In the case of a collection it could be hundreds/thousands of dollars.

I am a licensed gun owner in Australia. Feel free to ask me any questions. Australia has a very small population of around 20Million people. We have approximately 1.2million licensed gun owners. I can tell you almost every person that comments on our gun laws and that includes most Australians does not have a clue what they are talking about. We did NOT hand our guns in voluntarily. We were threatened with Jail. We used to have access to all the same firearms as all other countries. And guess what, we still do. It is only very certain people with certain licenses that can have semiautomatic centre fire rifles, but we do still have people that own them. Like professional culling shooters, and gunship owners. Semiautomatic rimfire and shotguns, and pump action shotguns, and handguns can be owned by farmers. But most farmers are too busy to bother so they get other people to come and hunt the property for them. You can get a separate handgun license, but can only shoot them at a handgun club. No hunting or concealed carry. Everyday gun owners have access to bolt, pump, and lever rifles, straight pull. Rimfire and centre fire. Shotguns lever or break action and straight pull. Certain states have magazine capacity upto 25, others 15 for rimfire. And 10 for centrefire. Some states shotgun capacity of 7 plus one in chamber, my state 5 plus 1. My state wont allow folding or adjustable stocks. No bump fire. Must have a license. Must pass police background check. Every fire arm purchase gets sent away for review and police background check. Takes 2 weeks to get approval to purchase back. So its essentially a 2 week cooling off period. So in short, it was NOT a gun Ban. But we are still pissed off about it. Do not give your 2nd amendments rights away.

I don’t want to reduce my ability to hear yet I don’t want to blow out my eardrums. A suppressor is a good tool for this. Besides, it ain’t like the movies where it makes your gun silent. A lot of people are lawful Bic lighter and gasoline owners. A lot of people are lawful hands and feet owners. There's a lot of ways people can go crazy and kill other people. A lot of people are lawful citizens who support their government's wars in foreign lands.

Let me make it easy for anyone who says "there's no background check requirement" Federal law requires all firearm dealers to be licensed[1] and to initiate a background check before transferring a firearm to a non-dealer,[2]regardless of where the transfer takes place.[3] Background checks for firearms have been conducted through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) since November 1998.[4]

In Kansas city thats called a private sale. And buying a firearm for someone incapable of owning one, ie felon, is a felony.

I hate when people talk about silencers and they have no idea what they’re saying
@TerraHerr116 жыл бұрын
I'm from kansas. private sales don't have to have background checks , ANYBODY with a gun dealer license has to perform a background check , we don't need a license to open or conceal carry but you can still get the license as its extra protection in case you had to use it you can prove you've been trained and take the classes. kansas is more gun friendly than the state of texas , most don't realize that but no you can't get around a background check unless its a private sale.

I disagree with the guest. The government shouldn't have complete control over what guns you can have. If all anybody could have are pistols, hunting rifles and shotguns it would put the American people at a higher disadvantage against a tyranical government than if they could use semi/fully automatic weapons. Shit, it'd be awesome if more people could own/build their own tanks and weapon drones, just to even the odds a little more

No offense, but all firearms transactions that are done from a federally licensed firearms dealer (ffl) MUST administer a background check. Failure to do so is a felony. However, in some states, private firearms transactions (I.e., two friends) do not require a background check as they are not purchased from an ffl. Welcome to freedom 🇺🇸🦅😎

A shitload of mass murders by arson, stabbing and car rammings as well, but you dont care about those dead people so I just included the incidents with guns.
@angussmc7 жыл бұрын
Again literally none of those were fatal mass shootings. Do you know what a mass shooting is ? I mean you live in America surely you're use to hearing about one per week. In that war zone you call a free country. Please comment again so I can prove you wrong this is fun to see how idiotic your mindset is
@danni81917 жыл бұрын
angus smc America is also 14 times bigger if you want to go by raw numbers. So divide that 12 number by 14 to get a comparative result that would apply to Australia. And if you really want to be fair, include mass stabbings and car rammings and arsons (we know you dont want to be fair).

Why tf would you agree with that statement? If your in a college shooting a suppressed firearm you think thats going to go undetected? Are you serious how quiet do you think they make them not to mention alot of ammo is breaking the sound barrier whether the gun is suppressed or not. That thought should have been corrected right then.

Joe, I don't agree with you about gun control. In states like Alabama,. Alaska and Louisiana, where guns are lightly regulated, the rate of deaths by firearms (per 100,000 people) is more than four times higher than in New York, Connecticut, Hawaii or Massachusetts, which have some of the strictest gun laws in the country. A 2016 study found that Americans are 10 times more likely to be killed by guns than people in other developed countries. Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the United States' gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. This study shows that the US, which has the most firearms per capita in the world, suffers disproportionately from firearms compared with other high-income countries. Sources: www.cnbc.com/2018/02/27/states-with-strict-gun-laws-have-fewer-firearms-deaths-heres-how-your-state-stacks-up.html www.cbsnews.com/news/how-u-s-gun-deaths-compare-to-other-countries/

There is some misinformation. In alaska and texas has much less gun crime than new York, Detroit, and kther blue states yet their firearms are the highest . Alabama is one state of which light gun laws don't work as they don't fix their mental problem at all and just shit on poor people. Crime happens when you see poverty and do nothing about it.

I'd say it's easier to get a concealed carry license than an ffl to sell guns. It's just a wait it's relatively easy to get a concealed

@timoyr29546 жыл бұрын
All supressors do is allow you to shoot indoors or without as much protection in order to avoid long term damage. The only "silencer" that actually works was a build in system in what I believe was a WWII prototype and it was still a quick noice and like 90dB. Definitely something you'd notice. Hell, even the mechanical noice of a gun, is quite loud. It's not like a movie where a shooter could kill people without anyone on the otherside of the building noticing. A shooter wants a panic and is probably ready to die (so ear damage isn't really a factor), so I doubt supressors would be used in those. If noice was a big factor, people would be using bows.

See this guy is such a huge problem, he's saying things like "you can get a gun with no background check in Kansas, I'm pretty 100% sure" when he has done no research about the facts or actual laws. You don't have to do a background check if you have a concealed carry permit because it proves that you already have done background checks. Also you can't go into a gun show and buy a load of guns legally without a background check. If you don't have a concealed carry permit an FFL dealer will carry out a background check before selling you a firearm. If you are a Kansas resident you can purchase a used firearm from a private seller who is also a Kansas resident and it's totally legal but you can conduct that private sale anywhere it has nothing to do with gun shows

Maybe don't focus on the mass killings as a reason for more gun control - but look at the number of overall gun deaths in the USA. As an Australian when I see the published rate it is mindbogglingly sad. And the number of accidental deaths by children.... I gave up my gun 20 years ago and feel just fine. It seems the cultural issues and attitudes in the USA drive the 'need' for owning a gun. It is a big cost for your "freedom". I think it is an illusion.

An AK may be something to consider if you feel the need to prepare for an active shooter situation. The 7.62x39 penetrates barriers well, walls, cars concrete etc. Another desirable aspect would be just how reliable they are. Could bury it in your back yard for 50 years and it would still work

Suppressors are safety equipment, if you've ever been in combat you'd understand how loud a rifle or a handgun is inside of an enclosed space / building. If you have to fire in your house to defend your family, you can destroy their hearing forever, and your own. Security is your responsibility not anyone else's. School situation is easier, handle the root but most importantly ALLOW licenced parents AND teachers that are trained and choose to, CARRY. Guns are a RIGHT and no gun zones just create an easy target for psychopaths.
