As much as people like to say that hard sparring is stupid, I just can’t help but think that it is something that necessary to reach the very highest level of any combat sport, even though it comes with unfortunate consequences later in life

Hard sparring is great for inexperienced fighters to experience what a fight is. But there's no point for like a 5 year veteran to hard spar, he already has the years in.
@mikehawk44776 жыл бұрын
@@FaithRox I don't think so, I think sparring should still be required but not as often. Mayweather comes to mind. I don't think he would've been who he is if he stopped sparring completely. Tony Ferguson is going to find out eventually the hard way if he doesn't spar at all.

Rogan doesn't really have bits man. He actually just calls people out on a large scale about shit he finds annoying or problematic. He's like a more selective/sober Stanhope.(who he admits he use to look up to). Where the stand-up is more like a discussion than a comedian just trying to make you laugh. Rogan will get you laughing at the ironies. If you watch his stuff expecting Ck darkness or Burr 'to-the-point' criticisms you're not gonna have fun. Rogans cool like that. He basically just gets up there and talks with the people. Idc if I laugh at certain comedians, if I'm entertained or moved by their shit I'm committing to it.

I think I have brain damage from falling off my skateboard and bmx bike. I remember bombing a pretty steep hill on my board ..I got the wobbles ( when your wheels uncontrollably wobble from going fast)…. I knew I was going down so I dove for the grass on the side of the road but I landed on the road… I saw a flash of light and literally bounced back up to me feet. My nipple was almost gone and my pants looked like I was attacked by a shark. I slid o. My face and side and then bounced. I had no helmet on. Another friend of mine had a similar wreck, and he ended up in a coma for a week. I am very lucky to have only sustained scrapes and bruises but I’m pretty sure I have a brain injury that was never treated from that.

Sparring is necessary to be proficient in any striking combat sport. A guy who has been doing pad/bag work for 5 years will lose to the guy who has been doing pad/bag work AND sparring for half the time. It’s for sure rolling the dice, but I personally don’t believe it’s as dangerous as they make it seem. I saw a stat that said about 25% of pro high level boxers will have some brain issues later in life. I thought the number would be much higher. These guys have been sparring & fighting their entire lives. Thousands and thousands of rounds, for a 75% chance they’ll be coherent as an old man. Now take a guy who picks up boxing or another form a striking in their early twenties, takes it relatively serious, spars here & there, maybe a few amateurs fights, his chances of brain damage are a lot lower that the pro who’s whole life has revolves around boxing. This is me. Been boxing for a good 6 years now. Don’t spar as often as I did in the early years but will still thrown down from time to time. Again, rolling the dice… but I think the juice is worth the squeeze. Don’t let the whole CTE conversation steer you away from picking up some form of combat. Learn how to fight gentlemen, you’ll be fine
A few years back some dude kept throwing ice at a friend and myself and after telling him several times to stop throwing the ice (He threw the ice 4 times (hit me twice!)and I told him to stop in between each one with an increasingly threatening message). I told him to "come stand here" with his back against a fence(this guy was an idiot) and I asked him "Are you ready?" He said "For what?" I said "For this" and hit him square in the face next to his nose(with a right jab/straight) with the intention of just getting him to fuck off but I never understood that when he collapsed to the ground I actually knocked him out... Lowkey I felt bad but I only hit him once, he was only out for maybe a second(Idek) and helped him up immediately afterwards sooo
