Many people don't know this today, but Joe Rogan is one of the best kickers of all time in the MMA space. As a national US Taekwondo champion and a BJJ blackbelt, he could've become a high level MMA fighter if he wanted.
Instead, he became a host and podcaster. About 9 years ago, he gave me support when I had no audience. Along the way, he's given me support many times publicly and through messages too. When things got hard, it was his podcast and the guests he brought on that helped me get through so many moments.
Thank you Joe, for everything you've done. I hope that your light will continue to shine through for people to see.
What do you think about what happened with JRE recently?

@@complexblackness When the arguable P4P best MMA fighter of all time comes to you for advice on how to sharpen up his turning side-kick, you're probably a pretty good kicker for ANY space. I don't think he was insinuating he's used the kicks in an MMA match.

I came to the channel after mentioned by Joe….. I heard the podcast taken out of context and what was said wasn’t with malicious intent. It was using using the word instead of insinuating the word. If we started doing that with fluid genders imagine the outrage!

Muay Thai and Taekwondo is actually a really effective combination for striking focused Martial Art's. Muay Thai gives you very good infighting ability, combined with an effective defense against some of the primary weaknesses of Taekwondo in full-contact fighting, whilst TKD gives you great distance management (because you absolutely need this to ever pull kicks off even in sparring or point fighting) and a variety of long ranged options that you can use to exploit opponents as you re/engage. This is common even in Muay Thai sparring/fights, as fighters commonly break after an exchange, then return to infighting, so throwing out a good spinning back/sidekick which can absolutely end fights if the opponent walks onto it, but is useful even just as a tool to break guards or injure an opponent so you can re-enter their range with an advantage if you follow-up appropriately. Cyrus Washington has done this quite extensively within Muay Thai competition, and Muay Thai fighters have started to pick up longer ranged kicks in recent years. If you throw some Boxing into this, you end up with an extremely well-rounded striking toolset. You can also replace TKD with Kyokushin somewhat, because Kyokushin has adopted many TKD style kick's, though it has less distance management, but makes up for that by teaching you how to high kick at extremely close range!

@AveSicarius
@AveSicarius 2 жыл бұрын
@@robintang7304 If he trained for it, yeah, he was a pretty good athlete. If you just took Bruce as he was in his prime and threw him in the ring with someone like Demetrius Johnson he would 100% lose though, outside of puncher's chance of course. Bruce was cross-training in Martial Art's, but he wasn't a full contact fighter in regards to competitive experience, and he also had nowhere near the grappling to defend against a well-rounded MMA fighter, even if his striking was up to scratch, which is doubtful because most MMA fighters have more striking experience even at the lower levels. A mediocre pure wrestler would probably completely wreck him, let alone someone like DJ or TJ Dillashaw who are also great at stand-up. Bruce would likely have loved MMA if he was born in the past few decades, but the same level of fighters just didn't exist back then, not only that but Bruce didn't fight in anything even resembling full-contact MMA. This is pretty much the same consensus anyone will give you, including professional fighters, if they are being objective and not blinded by the legend surrounding Bruce, which is very different to the man's actual capabilities.

The most underrepresented but imo one of the best techniques from tkd that can be used in other striking is the ability to kick and move back at the same time. Firing a rear leg while moving your front leg to where your rear foot was allows you to throw a hard kick move back without losing balance. It is very hard to do though and switches your stance which is a big no no for a lot of kickboxers but if you can get good at it, it's very useful for striking and maintaining distance.

Cancel culture's worst aspect is the disregard to allow people to grow from their mistakes and become better individuals. It literally pauses a person from growing. That's a huge problem! We need people to feel vulnerable and admitting their mistakes with a genuine want to be better instead of harassing them for being wrong in turn never allowing them to understand their mistakes. Otherwise more people will stop admitting their faults in fear of harassment. There's a difference between accountability and harassment.

It makes me enjoy the fact that I had the opportunity to train in the Power TKD days. I'm glad now more people are starting to see that TKD gets the love that it deserves. What most people don't understand is TKD is a combination of footwork and kicking, but without either one, you aren't going to be good. TKD needs another martial art simply because it is kicking only. You can throw punches but anyone who competes knows they are next to useless. I've seen a guy break a collar bone just by sparring, not going full on either. But make no mistake, what TKD brings to MMA is DEADLY kicks and epic footwork. Just the footwork alone puts nearly every single martial to absolute shame.

This confirms what I suspected: Gold Medalists in Fake-Kwon-Do are far faster and more dangerous than UFC champions, only because their reflexes, rib shattering kicks, and superior speed are beyond them, and then they get picked apart because they have no idea how to do the Special Forces version of Tae-Kwon-Do from the Vietnam War Era, where shattering ribs with far less than full strength and speed punches is a standard, as well as approaching gold medalists and coaching them on how to hit me harder as I power walk towards them, and let them try to light me up with as many beyond rib breaking kicks in a row as possible while I shrug them off repeatedly and wall them in (Three Gold Medalists I trained to date, but they refused to learn how to actually fight and were sore losers when I picked them apart). This is also why after defeating General Choi's two supervisors, I decided to not train anyone else; hard to build a satanic pyramid without that knowledge, so I'll keep what I know as the best on the Born-Again Christian Believer side. Besides, when I tried to show competitors at major UFC and Boxing Gyms that said karate was a waste of time (and I agreed) how I fight, they said "I don't want to learn from you. If I did, I would accidentally kill every opponent in Boxing and the UFC, including all the champions. We just train to do a sport; you were trained to kill in a military situation." The green beret that sent a six-hundred-pound bag flying to the ceiling in his homeland at the age of fourteen told me, "I cannot compare George Foreman's punches to yours. If I had to, it would be like comparing a nineteen twenty-five sports car to a modern Lamborghini. He was trained to do a sport; you were trained to kill in the military. Comparing the best Red Belts and beyond in my neighboring country of Brazil and their grappling to yours would be like comparing the ground to the sky. All of the UFC stuff and the Olympics are a game. We don't use what we know unless we are trying to kill soldiers in war. If you used any of those against any of them on TV, they would die." Speaking of death, why have you failed to kill me, sports media entertainment industry? My former instructor fought and killed Viet Cong in the rat holes; he and I laughed at your attempts. When one of my co-students won the underground MMA championships, he had to sneak out because people with assault rifles and shotguns were waiting for him on the way out for having picked apart their best guy. And now you try to take my life and I laugh you off again. History loves to repeat itself! I expect no better from those that fail to have a personal relationship with the LORD.

Thnx. Didn't know Joe Rogan was a TKD Champ of USA. Salutations to this great man, Joe Rogan.

I'm surprised Joe Rogan's roundhouse kicks are so good coming from a Taekwondo/karate background! I expect ridiculously effective roundhouse kicks from Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai Champion but usually American karate kicks are not as effective shall I say. Hats off to Joe Rogan! I'd hate to be on the receiving end of one of those kicks! Thanks for standing up for Joe Rogan!

The reason why I and many others have a better outlook on the world today. He unknowingly guided, if not created a vast majority of the martial arts community Doing more for people than many who work for your own government. Kicks like a beast also.

Id love to learn a minimum of 3 martial arts, anywhere up to 8 of them , wow imagine a UFC fighter being able to do some of the things that people can do in taekwondo or certain wowza kicks in general

watered down family friendly taekwondo is no where deadly what their military and real taekwondo people uses. with all the rules only few can really show their true strength. people are wild calling any martial art doesn't work. especially when hundreds to thousands of years of developing got lost this soft era.

Well, he's doing this kick VERY WELL, however, what he does is still not a spinning back kick and the turning side kick is STILL NOT a spinning back kick or turning back kick. The name in their description says what the difference between them is but people still don't get it. Is it possible that there most martial artists and martial arts enthusiasts don't know the difference between a side kick and a back kick...? LOL. They are two very different kick, people should tutorials on them to see what exactly each of them is. Joe Rogan however does the turning or spinning SIDE KICK extremely well. I don't know any other fighter or martial artist that can do the turning side kick as well as he does. Or even close. One more thing, all the "turning side kicks" shown in this video except Joe Rogan's were actually turning back kicks,. not turning side kicks...

Every one should learn both. And train for them daily as part of your daily exercise/stretching. It can save your life one day against a knife attack. Judo throws?..sure, it could work. At the risk of getting injured and then have to fence against him again, now compromised. Liver liquefier on the other hand..
